I know this probably fits better in the general section, but I am way more familiar with this forum. Anyways... after a month of riding I am completely destroying my shoes. Pictures are below.
The first pair I understand... they are cloth. the second pair is pretty thick leather, yet I have worn through about half the leather in a few weeks. What can I do short of getting those stupid plastic-looking riding boots? I am pretty specific about my shoes and like to wear Keens throughout the day. I would hate to wear around riding boots all day long. Any ideas? |

Delrin shifter/brake pegs from Al at www.americansportbike.com They're much smoother and less abrasive, but also offer more surface for better, easier shifts. They should be easier on your Keens, or your Merrell Chameleons. Or buy a toe saver. |

Make sure you're not resting your foot on the lever. second looks like the lever is too far from your foot (all black shoe) that's what the pad is for. Adjustment of the lever will help some. |

Backpack/tankbag to haul your shoes. If a toe peg will ruin those shoes imagine what the road will do to them at 50mph. ATGATT |

God Forbid a company build a sport bike boot that looks normal and in a size that people actually wear. I have size 14 feet and the last thing I want is a giant bright white crazy looking power ranger boot. I dont care how safe it is. I ride my Buell places to go do stuff and I cant imagine running through walmart or wherever in those things. Thats why I ride in Hiking type boots.

@99buellx1, I AGREE! Walking around "comfortably" should be secondary to protection in a crash. |

@Rpm4x4, I have a size 14 foot, also. I wear an all black motorcycle boot. Similar to these: http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/catalog/Solution-W P-Road-Boot-p-82_7.html You care what you look like in Walmart when nobody else does? Seriously, is someone going to look at you funny wearing Power Rangers boots or are they going to look at the 400 pound woman in the moo-moo? Correct answer is neither. They're looking at the Tranny with bright red lipstick. |

I ride to work and wear them for 8 hours no issues. Just loosen the buckle. As for heels i have a pair of harley boots and hate them on this bike. The foot pegs fit exactly between the heal and the lug sole and sorta sticks there. The shoes are flat and allow me to move my feet around to get comfortable. In my youth i stopped a 3/4 ton ford with my pelvis so i tend to be a lot less flexible then most people who ride these bikes |

I have a pair of Chippewa riding boots and the shifter is tearing through the heavy leather...Could be the way I am pivoting my toe under the shifter peg. I have a feeling a plain CNC aluminum piece would not be tearing up my boots. It took about 10,000 miles. |

This thread is kinda funny to me. Every single one of my pairs of shoes and my race boots look like that. I thought it was just part of the game. |

What can I do short of getting those stupid plastic-looking riding boots? dude, you made me face-palm. but since you posted this on a public-viewing forum, i guess you are wanting input. -deep breath- yeah, those stoopid plastic-looking things are so dumb looking they just might actually protect you in the unfortunate event of a get-off. ATGATT or HTFU or STFU. it's your decision. i wear frank thomas or my red wings. but that's how i roll. -inhale- |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think with the longer delrin pegs I might be able to minimise the shoe wear. Craiga, nice job on knowing exactly what shoes I wear... LoL. Littlebutquick, what the hell is that thing? Nillaice, I know the plastic looking boot things protect you... just seems a bit much for off the race track, going to work... |

Littlebutquick, nevermind... looked up the brand... that is kinda neat, but I still prefer the feeling of that clutch shifting... whether it is a bike or a car. It is neat that you can still shift completely manually with it on though. |

Red Wings Shoes stores have this "toe protector" stuff that you brush onto your boot. It looks like truck bed liner. It makes a hard shell over whatever material you put it on. I am sure that would protect your boots. |
