Called in today to schedule the harness replacement per the recall and advised the dealer there is what appears to be minor leakage coming from the water pump. He advised he has had a few of them and its covered. Will take a few days to get the part in. Just a heads up if your planing a long ride. |

Dipstick, 2,200 miles I kind of wish they could handle both situations in one setting, but I understand they have to make a firm diagnosis on the water pump first before ordering the part. Its not easy when the dealer is almost an hour away and you have to leave the bike all day. Stuff happens, at least its covered under warranty. |

That seems like an early failure, possibly a bad seal from the factory. My 09R has 7000 mi with no leaks yet, but I am keeping a close watch on it. Thanks for the heads up. Dealer should schedule both items at same time if possible, cheaper for them that way. My dealer will try to schedule the stator replacement at the 12,000 mi service. |

Mine is just broken in at 1000 miles and the overflow tank is running empty. I refill and it's gone after a couple hundred miles. I haven't found where it's leaking yet. Any other possibilities that people have found? |

Lrsawyer, Sounds you have air in the system, my first one did that twice when new. The second has never done it, but I got them a different dealerships, so different tech's setting them up. I think most of the leaks come either from or around the water pump, there is a weep hole in the bottom cover of the water pump, my buddies leaked there, was easy to find left the anti-freeze stain on the case. |

Check the expansion tank for leaks at the lower fitting where the return hose connects. Some have "raised" mating lines along the fitting that prevents the hose from sealing properly. Sanding those lines down has reportedly fixed the problem. I have not encountered that problem with mine, but the coolant level was low when I got it. Had to add more a couple of times before the level stabilized. |

Confirmed today by the dealer it is a bad water pump and they will have keep bike till next week waiting on parts. I took it in for the harness recall. Kind of glad they kept it so now I don't have to make two long trips. Also asked them to take the free play out of my throttle after I installed the G2ergo quick throttle. I thought I adjusted it out, but it came back. I wish the throttle and idle adjusters weren't smashed together, kind of a bitch to adjust. |

I too had a leak when I first got the bike. I removed the air from the system and the leaking stopped. (fingers still crossed!) |

I haven't been on badweb in awhile. What is the harness recall you are talking about? I have a 08 1125r do I need to do something? |

According to the notice, your bike falls outside the perimeters: "2009 or 2010 1125R / 1125CR model, or a 2008 1125R with a replacement engine". The above bikes had to be built prior to Sept 24, 2009. Further, if you didn't receive a notice from Buell, thats another reason to believe your bike is not involved. However, just to make sure you can call your dealer, have your VIN # handy if you do. (Message edited by JohnnyS999 on April 18, 2010) |

Mine has occasionally weeped some coolant from the water pump weep hole. I'm not worried about it. If I actually thought they could fix it or it were leaking after every ride, then maybe i'd take it in. I would wager that many have a weep every so often, but they wash the bike and never see the dried trail of coolant. Sometimes it leaks enough to make it to the bottom of the case, other times it's barely noticeable. |
