Well, I finally "blinged out" my operator tubes. As you can tell from the pics, one tube is first aid (bandages, cold pack, ace wrap, gauze, tape, sting-eze, pain reliever, strike-anywhere matches, an LED flashlight, and ICE phone numbers), and one is spare fuel. Decals are reflective (making it VERY difficult to get my camera to take pictures in the relatively low light of the garage) vinyl and show no signs at all of ever coming off. I cleaned the tubes with a swipe of a brakleen-soaked rag first to get any grease off the lid, then put 'em on. They ran me a whopping $2.65/each I think.
Admins, you can feel free to delete this part if you like - the vendor is not a sponsor, but I'm going to try posting 'em because they don't really compete with any sponsors either...and their customer service was outstanding. I found 'em on ebay a while back, and they have no problem doing custom work (my fuel decals are custom, actually; I came up with the design, they shot me some ideas via email, I picked one and they printed 'em - no extra charge) - www.rottenremains.com. I know, a goofy name for a decal place...damned Canucks, LOL. |

You are allowed to plug for a non-sponsor, they are simply not allowed to advertise here. And I thank you for the plug! I want that first aid sticker! I can't find it on their site but I shot them an email. |

Neat where did you get the stickers. I got some of that reflective tape that is black in the day light but reflects headlights. Will see what they look like in night riding. |

Oh, and Mikef - they call it the "star of life" decal. I actually found it on ebay on a search that way... |

Where did you get the operator tubes? I tried Tractor Supply and Lowes and couldn't find them. |

Joe How'd you hang the tubes? Also, I read your other post on ECMSpy and I recently picked up a version loaded on a Treo you can borrow. I bought it to pull codes when I was having possible stator problems ( that turned out to be a bad 77 connector) and the guy told me there was one problem with the program - lack of history I think. Since then somebody else sent me a new copy of the program I just haven't loaded it yet. Came with cables, etc. Let me know Don |

Don - I used the 'feet' on the tubes, drilled into the bottom of the bag where the holes in the feet were, and used plain ol' hardware store hardware - 1" bolt up from the bottom, a monster 1.5" or so flatwasher, the foot, the bag, another washer inside the bag, and a nylock nut inside the bag. Trimmed the end of the bolt down to the top edge of the nylock with a cutoff wheel in a grinder. And thanks for the offer of the ECMspy cable...but I think once I find the connector I'll just build my own. Murphy's law following me through life the way it does...I'd just assume have it accessible (or at least, know I lost it somewhere in the garage LOL). Froggy - I know how to take clear pictures:
But the cheap point-n-shoot that I use in the garage flat out refused to take a low-light picture for me. And I'm too lazy to resize a 15mp shot out of the 50D, just for a couple decals I'll take a couple today, *just for you*! MikeF - yep, 2" is what I got. |

Excellent, thanks, just bought two operator tubes! (And I couldn't help myself, and bought the "busted knuckle" sign for the garage as well.) (Message edited by reepicheep on April 15, 2010) |

You have a $1400 body but no way to quickly and easily resize pics? No comment |
