Gear requirements are pretty minimal...a riding jacket of some sort, helmet, gloves, long pants and ankle coverage boots. At most tracks, there is an ET break where full leathers are required...usually its around the 11 second mark, but I saw some guys running V-Rods in the 11's with just the jacket/gloves/helmet/pants thing. I'm 99% sure they will never say anything about running a street bike with gloves/jacket/helmet/jeans/etc... bomber, come on out! its a riot! I showed up relatively early and got maybe 8 runs in before eliminations started. next one is 7/16, but then they are having an event 3 weeks in a row to make up for some rained out ones. I never intended on running all of them but i have the points lead in my class at the moment (2 event wins and a runner up last night), so i gotta try! |

Wes, it was in yesterdays K-news. Don..good to see ya give it a go at the track. If I get a wednesday night off some time I will have to bring my Dyna out & see if I can break a 14 12.9 isnt bad at all. Everyone likes to think their bike will be a 10-11 second bike but truth is its a lot harder than it would appear to hit those numbers. |

True that Dyna. Maybe Wes could get my bike in the 11's or so, but for a mostly stock bike with a rider who never dragged a bike before - I'm very proud of my times. I was floored when I was doing wheelies is 4 gears! It's no wonder there were so many Buells with extended swingarms or wheelie bars. Honestly, I never rode my bike that hard - and it was FUN! Can I get a "Hell Damn Yeah!"? |

Hey Don, I doubt seriously i could do any better than you (plus your probably lighter than i am now....)! wheelies seem to be the limiting factor with the stock Buells. I would love to get mine in the 10's, but I think it would require a wheelie bar and a 40lb lighter rider. Not sure i want to make that committment on either count! That would be great to get a group out there for next time (7/16) |

Its a real bitch for mere mortals like us to get any bike...well the shorter bikes anyways, long wheelbase bikes like the V-rod are easier to launch...to break into the 10's. Years ago I raced my CBR600 at the grove for quite a while. At the time the mags were getting 11.2 at 124 mph out of that bike supposedly. The best I could manage was an 11.8 at 114mph & that was launching at 8000rpm & carrying the front tire thru the 1st 2 gears. Sometimes I could barely get my foot back up to the shifter in time to nail 2nd gear & that was shifting at 13,500 rpm's. Havent raced out there since 92, dont even know if I know how any more |

Donsieg...The Mystery Man finally showed up at a BRAG meeting tonight and I have his contact information. If you or any of your Bud's are interested in the Carbon Fiber Painting let me know and I will email you his info. The Company does a number of other finishes including wood grain just in case you want to convert your SUV into a Woodie. FYI, Hal's has a Blue CF painted XB9S on the floor. It was done by someone else but it is absolutely to die for. Swing by and take a look if you get a chance. |

Dyna, At the last meeting I overheard you say something about a stunt rider competition at the grove on the 12th. I was wondering if you have any more info about it. Please let me know. All, Good news: went to the hospital last monday. It turns out my arm wasn't broke, but the muscles are damaged and will take some time to heal. The real good news is that I can ride! Question: "to anyone in the club" this past Tuesday I was out riding and ran into two guys riding new XB9S Lightnings one yellow one black. They bought their bikes at ukes this year. I asked if they where in the club.they told me that had never even heard of the club. Are only certain people invited to join the club? Anyone want to ride out to the grove this weekend? Let me know friday. |

Newguy, if you were to go back & read the very first pages of this particular thread you will see that I bitched about that very same thing. Nobody is told about the local chapter. Its almost like a secret clandestine operation. Now thats not the fault of the folks in the club, but the dealership sure as hell isnt promoting it very well if at all. I have run into several riders around town on tube frames & when I ask them if they have heard of the chapter, their eyes glass over & they tell me they have no idea of what I speak. Dana, doesnt either Keith or Eva close every sale? I know when we bought both the Blast & the X1 they were both involved & they were the only ones.
