Around here, it's please keep your cattle out of the road. Used grass is a lot slicker. |

WTF Selfish Self-Centered-Ness! How would that person feel if they ran over a huge ass rock buried in the grass that was not there the week before? Or more dangerous, a container of gas and ball bearings? It's been suggested that I do not get worked up over these things, but it's not easy. |

I love the guys with the big push leave blowers cleaning off their yards blowing every thing into the street! |

I would be willing to bet they could be held responsible in court. They are intentionally placing a hazard in the road. Unfortunately someone will have to have an accident for them to find out if they are going to be held accountable. Perhaps a call to a local law enforcement agency could get some attention brought to the matter. Writing to local news media might help. I have seen it and had some near misses because of it. Just another reason to pay attention when riding. |

To add insult to injury, my favorite is watching people hosing off their driveway and the street in front of their house every day. Yeah, not only are you putting WET grass clippings, leaves, and tree bits into the street, you're also wasting about 40 gallons of fresh water. |

Not too far from my place is a car wash. It sets on a hill elevated about ten feet above the highway. It's non drained run off (where cars track water, soap, and other slippery stuff) when it rains, runs out on to the street across an intersection and down a side street. A few years ago on a dry day, my daughter was turning into the side street when her car slid into a car that was waiting to pull out. She(me) was liable for fixing the other car. The officer who showed up said he had to write someone a ticket. I asked why that was necessary, he started to say something, just as an old granny in an old Impala was starting out from that same spot. The '80's Impala, on dry pavement was nearly stuck on this slight up hill intersection. She was smoking the tire and not moving. After she got out of the way another car turned in where my daughter did, sliding nearly into the curb on the other side of the road. He looked at me and said I guess no ticket is needed here. He drove over to the car wash, we never heard any more of it after I fixed the other car. I'm guessing that if someone had been hurt the car wash could have been found at fault if their chemicals were present in a fair amount in that location. It still pisses me off, because though everyone involved knew it was their fault, I had to pay for the repairs. Throwing grass on the road in that amount is really no different than throwing rocks, sticks, soap or other road hazards out there. |

It's like the old banana peel trick. I live in the Sturgis Rally area and when the rally is around there are people hauling around old oil from oil changes, food vendors oil all types of crap. I took a spill because some idiot didn't seal his oil barrel and it fell on the road right in front of me! wam! busted my shifter off on my 04 XB12S. Watch out for road gremlins! |

I stopped on my bike to ask some guy why he was blowing all the cinders that came from the salt spreaders during this winters snow storms out of his grass, into the street. I told him how we call them marbles they are so slippery. He really seemed to care, he blew them back into his grass . I hate the people who feel that protection piece on the discharge of the mower deck don't apply to them. My wife was coming home with a brand new car and someone mowing there yard whacked it with a stone. She saw it happen, and saw the fact the guy has a bungy strap holding the rock guard up in the air. But by the time I saw it, it was do late to go after the guy. It would have turned into a shouting match (and around here they can turn into gun matches). |
