Just got some Fieldsheer "Compact" saddlebags, for 80 bucks. Not bad at all, easy to mount/dismount and actually quite roomy. Has anyone else tried these long term? |

I would recommend taking off the cowl when using saddlebags. |

Mickey, I haven't tried the Fieldsheer but I think you will like them. I really like my Nelson-Rigg silver streak mini's (below)at about the same price. I believe both would be just right for that 500 miler to have a camera, extra clothes, a snack and beverage along. Maybe a few extra tools. I tie mine together under the seat to "keep them from flapping" in the wind. They have a nice rubber like pad under them that does not scratch the seat cowling. On and off easy depending on the ride at hand. From an earlier picture in 2008. Bob

Bob, So far, I am pleased with the Fieldsheers. They are similar to Nelson-Riggs and perfect for a day trip or overnight. They stayed on just fine at up to 110 today. Here's a pic...

These also have a rubber pad to prevent rubbing. I just don't want a tankbag again--bags on the side distribute weight better. Not to mention more cargo space. |

I just got a pair of Cortech's Sport saddlebags ... they fit great, look great, and can definitely hold enough for a long weekend trip for me. I'm gonna hold off until I use them a couple times before I review them, though. |

@Jeepinbueller, I really like the Cortech Sport saddlebags. I've used them on my Gixxer and V-Strom. They are very sturdy and hold a lot of gear. I will be trying them on the CR for the first time in a few weeks. I'll post up pics and results. I think they'll work just fine. |

Thanks for the words, Kidder. I did a test fit and ride just to get the adjustable clips setup for the CR ... both over straps fit under the pillion cover perfectly and leave a nice finished look to the bike. Also adds security since you'd have to remove the pillion to get the bags off ... I won't be worried about someone nabbing them. I'll throw a few pics up myself as I'll be using them this weekend. |

Does anyone know of a set of bags that does not interfere with the rear passenger pegs? I would like to do some long distance, two up riding... |

Bartimus - I was thinking the same thing. I have the Ventura kit on order as so far the majority of panniers seem to cover the pillion pegs |

i have a set of Nelson rigg saddle bags and tail bag.. So far i'm 600 mile in on my trip and they work great... good to over 100 mph Only suggestion is that if you get the tail bag, take the time to make sure it won;t ride up on your back... i've had to stop and make adjustments because the tail bag was getting annoying. |

If you want to do long distance, two-up riding for God's sakes... have pity on your passenger and get another bike for that purpose!! |

My wife laughed when I showed her the "passenger seat." And she's by no means a big person. |

I like the Fieldsheer "Compact" bags they carry quite a bit--yes passenger pegs are blocked. ANYWAYS, my wife refuses to ride the R because of the poor excuse for a pillion "seat". I am hoping to grab a CR eventually and convert it into a "Ulysses". |
