After 23K miles logged on the '03 XB9R, I finally got to ride my new '09 1125R picked up 1 week ago today. Mind you, I never even rode an XB12. My original dealer always offered but I was content with the 9R and didn't want to be disappointed after experiencing the 12's extra "grunt" I'm no stranger to torque as I also have an '03 Screamin' Eagle Road King with the 103" motor, but I must say I was chomping at the bit waiting to experience the new Helicon. Ironically, I purchased the 1125R sight unseen and actually never saw an 1125R in person before I took delivery. As I started out the bike had a familiar feel as the XB9R, and as I weaved it in and out I felt impressed with the light, and well planted feel it has. The bike feels tight and rigid, and confidence inspiring. Where the major difference obviously occurred was when I twisted the throttle. This motor is strong, pulls hard from way down low and just keeps pulling! I put 109 miles on my first ride and believe this is just the beginning of a long term bike ownership, (or until the 1190 is available.... damn I think the 1190 is gorgeous!). Needless to say, I'm happy and impressed and proud as ever to still be riding a Buell. I work a lot of hours and haven't even read the owners manual yet, but will this weekend. I'll have to get used to the different fairing as my hand hit it several times as I lifted to open my helmet shield. The bike has excellent illumination of the headlights both low and high. I also noticed in my experience the bike likes to be ridden over at least 3K rpm's, otherwise it feels like its lugging. I also noticed a couple of times my speedometer was reading "0" as I was rolling and the gear indicator was reading "-". This was intermittent and I could see no rhyme or reason. Another thing I noticed was the rpm needle illuminated bright red at increased rpm's (5K I think) but I'm not sure why or what this means. Again, I need to read the manual. Looking forward to logging many miles on this bike, and making some mods along the way. I enjoyed the sound of the motor during acceleration and deceleration but I had to really struggle to hear the stock exhaust note from inside my helmet. Coming off my XB9R with the race kit, exhaust is one of the first things I will change, as I love the sound of a deep throaty bike and I like to see peoples heads turn my way as I approach. Not obnoxiously loud, but enough to get attention along with the waves and the thumbs up that go with it. Happy riding guys......you'll definitely see me on future posts! For what it's worth, I rode an XB12 Lightening and thought it was pretty gutless after getting used to the 1125's power delivery. Definitely an awesome bike. |

Not sure about the speedo reading 0, but you may be in need of a new IC for that. The tach needle lighting up is sort of a shift light wanna be. Unless you had the clutch pulled or were sitting in neutral it probably illuminated a little higher in the rev range than 5K but in neutral it will come on around that point. |

During the first 600 miles the tach needle will light to remind you to keep the revs down until the break in period is over. |

"During the first 600 miles the tach needle will light to remind you to keep the revs down until the break in period is over". I bought this bike second hand, and it has over 1900 miles on it. I'm confused as it illuminated at around 5K rpm's. I wonder if this is a problem associated with my speedo reading zero at times and the gear indication being blank at the same time. I'm heading out for a ride this afternoon and will see what happens. |

During the first 600 miles the tach needle will light to remind you to keep the revs down until the break in period is over. I don't think that's right. Mine does not do it (only 430 miles on it). When cold, the tacho needle iluminates at a lower level (around 5k) to warn you not to overrev a cold engine, once warm it moves up to about 10k to 10.5k. my gear indicator reads "-" when the clutch is pulled in (or it's in neutral) so maybe your ECM thinks the clutch is pulled... |

You may be correct Jules, however my bike was plenty warm when I saw the red light? Maybe it was just a glitch. I had no speedo or gear indicating issues on my 2nd ride.......seems to have worked perfect. I'm really learning to appreciate this bike.......what a ball it is! |

I must be mistaken then, and I believe you are correct Jules about the cold rev warning. Firboltxb9r the bike just gets better the more miles I put on it. Enjoy! |

make sure your not pulling in the clutch when you look at the cluster it does some funky stuff to the readouts |

> I also noticed a couple of times my speedometer was reading "0" as I was rolling and the gear indicator was reading "-" Your speed sensor is bad or the wire to it is bad. Been there done that dealer has the fix. |

Thanks for the tips guys. Speed sensor / wire seems logical and I will have it checked. |
