I also posted this over on the Uly thread. This may have done a million times, but I was looking to get opinions on mufflers based on noise for an 09 XT. I just wanted more sound, but not too loud since I live in a development and have good neighbors that I don't want to piss off. I've done many searches and seen that they all work w/ the stock ECM (though a little lean) and I don't need a ton more HP. How do you guys rate them most mellow to loudest? I was thinking Drummer or SpecOps. Are these louder compared to a Buell Race Can (I remember the sound of that from my 06 xb12Ss)? Thanks |

All the info you need, including decibel levels. http://www.americansportbike.com/XB_Exhaust_Shooto ut_Test_Report.zip You'll need WinPep7 for the dyno charting, it's free. http://www.dynojet.com/downloads/software.aspx |

Thanks, I should have already stated that I seen that, but that article says that data was at max throttle and I was more worried about normal riding impressions. I was most surprised at how the Buell Race can was so good on power, but also one of the quietest there. Too bad they are so hard to find. Any one selling a muffler? |

If you're handy with a welder, you can build a muffler using a car muffler. They've got a nice tone, and not too loud. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/444916.html?1237407197 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/449312.html?1243192752 You can do a search and find more, but I believe these will give you the idea. I was going to do one, but I don't have access to a welder, so I just stuck with my Buell Race Kit. |

honestly the sound doesnt mean anything.sound is not a quality that makes it go faster or stop sooner,or handle better. no idea why one wants it to be louder. |

That's why I asked the ?, because louder isn't what I want, but a better tone is what I want. |

I would stay with stock as long as your not going to race. Its going to be hard to get the same performance as your stock system gives. Early carb equipped buells were easy to tune, fuel injected bikes really need to be dyno tuned. |
