I went to the dealer (about a month ago) and they checked everything, and the tech said, "well its not charging completely but you can still ride it without a problem. We'll order the recall parts today." (and they did) So I proceeded too and... After that i got a "low system voltage error" and i was about 30miles from home and was riding the piss out of it to get there becuase i was running late, so i check the voltage in diag mode and it was at 11.0V. So the first thing i think of is "CRAP (well the word i used was a bit more colorful lol) im not gonna be able to make it home, and someone's gonna have to come get me"....well i decided to try to make it home, and as soon as i pulled in the drive way, the damn thing just died...gauges went black and everything. It had just enough juice for me to turn the key and the gauges to come on, so i checked the voltage in diag again and within the course of 25-30mi. it had dropped from 11.0V to just over 8.0V.... So the dealer came and picked it up and that was almost a MONTH ago, and the parts STILL have NOT come in to do the freaking recall, AND chances are the stator IS bad and they havent even checked it from what i was told, becuase they're gonna "wait and see if the recall fixes it" and when/if that does NOT work im gonna have to wait probably ANOTHER MONTH for a @#$% stator!!! Does ANYBODY know if the recall part is backordered? This is freaking ridiculous, i mean my dealership has NEVER done me wrong before but COME ON, when you have to wait A MONTH for something that should have been there in a week..it just gets irritating HD needs to get off their FAT, CHROME, LEATHER TASSELED @$$ES and start helping us Buellers out!!! Sorry for the rant but ANY info on the recall or opinions on my problem would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanx Jake |

The recall parts (i.e. new harness) will do nothing to provide a charge to your battery if it isn't doing that already. Either your stator, rotor, voltage rectifier, or all 3 have bit the dust. Tell them to take a look at the stator, and if it is discolored or burned to order one now. |

What recall are you talking about? The charging harness? Its available currently, shouldnt take more than a week to get. I didnt thing many 08 models needed it though. If your stator is fried those are available for the 08 models also. (Message edited by xnoahx on April 09, 2010) |

I don't know how you guys are getting the harness upgrade so soon, it has nearly been a month since I called the Dealer, and no word from them yet? |

I am gonna do a "surprise" on my dealer and have this done tomorrow. It took them less than 24 hours from the time I dropped it off to fix my 1125R with a clutch leak and some other minor things. |

my dealer ordered the harness upgrade, but last night went to the bank and pulled up to the window for my turn and my battery lite came on...When i took off the voltage was 11.2 then slowly went up to 13.9 while riding it home i guess the stator is dying... |

Those of you that can get it done in a week or less, good for you. Mine died a month ago, has been sitting at the dealer for three weeks waiting for the parts. I sure as hell hope they ordered a stator too. I made it clear to them it was dead. I think I am going to "visit" my bike today...I miss it. |

I ordered my wiring harness a week ago. Service guy said it takes about a week to get the part in, so it should show up soon. No mention of a backorder. |

Ill say it again, the update harness is available and shouldn't take more than a week for a US dealer to get. If you have been waiting more than 2 weeks since notifying your dealer, you need to follow up with them. They might have forgotten about you. If you need an 09 stator get ready to wait, those are on backorder until 4/30 |

Noah, after checking with my dealer twice, they said it's "supposed" to be in next week. I notified them three and a half weeks ago and they have had it for over two weeks. You are the only one on here saying it should only take a week. Many on this and other forums have been waiting weeks for it. Are you a dealer or employee with inside info? Why would a respected sponsor stonewall me? I've also told them that my charging system is not charging and I had a CEL and a dead motorcycle, a clear indication that my stator is fried. They were made aware of all of this over three weeks ago. I am sure they haven't bothered to check it yet or order any stators, as undoubtedly mine will not be the only fried stator they see this month. BTW, my dealer is BWB sponsor Western Reserve HD. |

All I know is that H-Dnet is showing the part as active and not on backorder. That usually translates into 'about a week' to get the part. I work at a non sponsoring dealer in sales and parts and if I order an active part from HD on a Sunday, I will have it on Thrusday. |
