Has anyone here bought or tried out the $170 Buell XB9S Sportfighter seat? Comments? The picture is lifted from the Buell website. |

I put one on our demo bike which the owner's son promptly took home, never to return! It's nicely made, fits perfectly, it's more comfortable and allows you to scoot back further away from the airbox cover than the stock one does. |

The streetfighter seat went on the same time as the race kit... soon after the break-in miles. I do not regret the purchase! The original seat became uncomfortable after about an hour. The streetfighter seat is a bit flatter and wider mid-butt. This eliminates a pressure point that the original seat had... thus allowing more even contact with the seat. The seat is very comfortable... and looks very good. The possible down side would be those that are inseam challenged. Since it is wider... you lose leg reach to the ground. I am a bit below 5 foot 9 inches tall... and losing ground each year... just turned 49 last week. I have no trouble still being flat footed on level ground... but I do notice less bend in my knee to do so. So... if someone does not have a XB9SL (low version)... and just barely has the leg reach to reach the ground... I would not do it. IF that is not an issue... GO FOR IT!! I love the seat... MUCH more comfortable than the original seat! |

To answer the question... is the streetfighter seat the same as the Lightning low seat... NO... it is not. |

i hate to be the one to give a different opinion, but i got the streetfigher seat, and i really couldn't tell the difference between it and stock! if the dealer hadn't special ordered it for me, i would have returned it! just MHO.

I had the same question... thanks for the input. I'm riding an XB9S-L so I'm going to stick with the LOW seat, but how I wish for a touch softer seat. More importantly, I'd really like to see them use some type of heat-resistant lining under each seat as the engine exhausts heated air directly under it. Maybe material like the silver "space blankets" you can get from out-doors sports shops like REI/Oshmans/etc. |
