I need to do a TPS reset on my 06 Uly and I have ecmspy and the cable. I am unsure of the process to do a TPS reset though and I looked in the archives and I didnt see anything. Im new to the whole electronic tuning thing so please be gentle. Can anyone help me out? |

It is in your service manual, and also in the ECMspy tuning guide: http://www.ecmspy.com/download/BuellTuningGuide_EN _V2.0.pdf
quote:11.1 How to perform a TPS reset (This chapter applies for models with DDFI-2 injections only. Models from 2008 and later are usually equipped with DDFI-3 and do not require a TPS reset done by a computer any more.) On the front left of the engine, between the airscoop and the engine, is the idle adjust screw, which simply adjusts the butterfly in the injector to allow air through for tickover. • Connect the bike with the computer • Turn ignition on and set kill switch to the run position • Turn out this screw until the throttle voltage doesn't decrease any more • Keep winding the screw two additional turns • Close the throttle with light clockwise pressure on the throttle grip. The butterfly is fully closed if it sticks inside the manifold. It's essential, that this is done whith care, as the TPS reset needs to be done with the butterfly fully closed! • Click the "Reset TPS ..." button to perform TPS calibration • Turn idle adjustment cable clockwise until TPS degrees read 5.2 - 5.6 degrees. This setting is just to make the engine start and needs to be adjusted to correct idle speed with a warm engine afterwards. • Run vehicle until engine temperature is at least 140 °C or 285 °F • Set idle speed to 1050-1150 min -1

When done right it helps things run great. Just replaced my ECM and had a little learning with the TPS reset. Few hints from my first reset. Run vehicle until engine temperature is at least 140 °C or 285 °F Very important. Do to some bad planning and a lot of, oh as long as I has it apart, the bike was stone cold when I did the first reset. the 20 min it took for me to ride it and get it warmed up was horrible, spitting, studdering and by the time I got back, it was idling at 3k !! Between the "Click Reset TPS" step and turning the idle adjust up to 5.2 - 5.6 add a re-connect EMCSpy by clicking connect. Seems obvious after doing it once but it is possible to overlook this and say, crank the idle adjust all the way to the stop waiting for the numbers to start going up towards 5.2

In my experience...I don't reset the TPS unless I just swapped computers. It falls into the "if it ain't broke" category for me - if the bike's running well, I leave it be |
