I am the lucky owner of a 2006 Uly that is new to me as of last fall. Two questions about the clutch: - The pull seems a little hard, but I can live with it. But if there is an easy way to adjust the pull it would be nice to lighten it up. Thoughts? - Item two, which is my main concern, is that that the clutch engages in about the last 10% of the release. Does that make sense? I have to let it out almost all the way before the bike starts to move - the bikes I have ridden previously (all Japanese) all seem to engage much earlier in the release - maybe 50% of the way out. Is there any way of adjusting this? It is really hard to have any kind of "feel" with the clutch when you just have that last little bit to work with. Searches on the forums haven't been terribly useful, but perhaps someone can point me to an existing thread. Thanks! | ||

For the engagement issue, it sounds like you just need to adjust the clutch inside the primary case. If you don't have the service manual, someone will be along to quote it better than I can right now. The clutch on the Buell doesn't feel to tough compared to some other bikes - maybe try lubing the cable. There is a current thread running that describes how. | ||

See the current thread about clutch cables. Check the crimped barrel at the lever end of the cable for binding. If it doesn't turn freely in the lever it will "work" the cable and break it there. Most of us lube it at oil change time. For the release point, there is an adjustment inside the primary cover that is required periodically in addition to the normal free play in the cable. | ||
