Went for some hard rides this weekend on the twisty backroads with some liter bikes and was really pushing my bike. I am noticing new handling issues as I get faster, of course. One, I noticed that I am using almost all of my back tire yet still have huge chicken strips on the front. I think I need to drop the front or raise th rear or both. Also the bike doesn't feel at all stable when I first lean into a corner. One leaned over and especially when past the apex it is rock solid. The entry is sketchy though. These last two issues may be related. It seems like it shudders within the fork or steering head when hard on the brakes in some bumps. Also picked up a medium frequency vibration all through the rev range over the weekend. Still a great bike, I'm just coming up on 24k miles. She probably just needs some love. Thanks for any ideas on getting her all sorted out. |

The first thing I would do if you haven't done already is to raise the forks in the triple clamps up to the stop clips. This should slightly steepen the steering angle making it a little easier to flick into turns and provide a little more control while in corners. |

Thanks. I was going to start by raising them up 5mm in the crowns. Anyone else? I would really like to figure out where the instability issue is coming from at corner entry. |

I had borrowed a tuning CD from Kevin Drum. It was from a well know tuner. I believe one of the things he said were, If its a problem upon entering a curve it the front suspension. If the problem is on the exit, its the rear. |

Eureka! It's so simple. I think my forks need to be lowered, front isolator needs to be replaced, and the forks stiffened. Your point makes sense. The rear would barely be touching at corner entry so how could it really throw off the handling that much. Thanks for the help. I gotta keep up with the fast guys so the buells get the respect they deserve! |

Once you get it all sorted out, you'll be showing the fast guys the fast line through the twisties! |
