Just can not get this thing right and I have tried. Recent EBR gas ecm, RT-5, K&N and de-noid. I reset TPS before every ride and now have 700mi but I still experience poor fueling, or electrical problem even at constant throttle (neutral, 1st or second gear) at 4k rpm, skipping, missing, hesitation, surging. Now I happen to notice just the left head light flickering at idle right up to 3 or 4k. The right head light is bright and steady. Could my problem be related to this electrical condition, charging?? I love the bike but this is killing me. Any ideas?

If you have one headlight working fine, and the other is flickering...guess which one has a loose plug or a dying bulb filament?

Easy check - swap bulbs left to right and see if the problem migrates with the bulb.

700 miles is still a tight motor with a "learning" ECM. Ride it, *stop* resetting the TPS and just RIDE. I have 12k on my Ulysses and have only reset the TPS once, no issues. Stop fiddling. Ride.

And did you tell EBR exactly what setup you were running? Exhaust, intake, noid, etc? If you gave them different specs...

Also - keep it above 4k. Downshift. My CR is happier above 5k, all day long. I have to keep telling myself "this isn't a 1200"...but it rewards me in spades!

I'm having the same damn problems as BlackBear, performance wise. My tail light flickers under load, which is when the ignition starts "breaking up"

Sounds like low system voltage to me to be honest

With the lights on and the engine off tap on the headlight assembly. You should be able to duplicate the problem that way. My reflector inside the assembly came loose and would look like the light was flickering. It could be a voltage thing or the loose reflector inside the headlight assembly. Mine was also just one side. I also have the pulsing lights from the voltage fluctuation but its been that way from day 1.

Well guys, I did check the filament by swapping the two bulbs late last night and the left side bulb still flickers. Could it be related to a stator, or harness. The surging is worse some days even at 4500rpm and acts just like it could be electrical, cutting in and out momentarily. Is there a test for the charging system (stator) besides just measuring the battery voltage at idle and higher rpm. Guess I need to get a manual. TSI Harley here in CT can't even get back to me to change my oil (600 mi service) as they are too busy servicing real Harley's.

And yes Ratbuell I did send EBR the specs I was running before ordering the gas ECM.

Good, you should have the right map then. I seriously would stop resetting the TPS - every time you do, you basically "rebirth" the learning process for the ECM and are starting all over again. If you have a good reset, put some miles on it and I'll bet it smooths out as it learns/adapts.

And you should be able to set your instrument panel to show system V as you ride, so you can keep an eye on things as you go.
