Hello everyone, I have been lurking around in here for a good while now and finally decided to add another number to your roster. I am the proud owner of a 09 r that my wife surprised me with when I came home from work one day. This was officially my first bike. So far I love everything this bike brings to the table as well as the community here badweb. If you guys are in the area of Charleston let me know, I'm always down for a ride. My laptop is about to die so I'm cutting this short, Cheers |

Hi Michael- congrats on the Buell and welcome to Badweb. We have a pretty good group in the Charleston area; I'm in Summerville. Be sure and check in on the South Carolina Buell Riders thread here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 130123.html? We're having a meet in Columbia next Saturday; you should ride up. |

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. My R is all black, stock except the fairings. I would love to meet up and ride up to Columbia this coming weekend but I have to stay close to the base this weekend. How often are the meets? I'll have to plan a little further out because of my work schedule. |

Welcome to the wonderful world of Buell. May be in SC this weekend... Carolina Motorsports park. I have an invitation to ride a shift on a 60+ lap endurance race, and yes we are going to be running a Buell. T |

Welcome to Buelldom! A former South Carolinian (vicinity of Spartanburg) I come down to visit a couple of times a year. This summer I'm planning on doing the Saluda Grade. I think that will be a lot of fun on an 1125! Hope to see you out there. |

Black- that is a nice piece of road. Some good Uly roads nearby too (Pearson Falls Road). |

Hughlysses, You are on the money there! I found (again) Pearson's Falls Road after many years last fall. That is a Uly road for sure! I learned to ride up there when they were cutting I-26 through the mountains many years ago. I drove my cager up Skyuka last summer. I wonder if the Glassy Mountain Raceway is still there? As a kid, we used to ride all the way over Hogback to Greenville. Man....I'm getting homesick! |

The sad thing about Saluda is that the railroad has been closed for several years. It's still the steepest mainline grade in the U.S. at ~4.5%; it goes up 4.5 feet for every 100 feet it goes forward. That is a STEEP grade if you've ever looked down it. It's still a cool little town and there are a lot of great twisties fairly close by. |
