so today was day 3 on my bike and i was going to school and all the way there it was riding fine. but then i started to notice that when i go the bike to about 3500 to 4500 rpm she wanted to like stall or it was like luger for power but then when i go it to around 5000 rpm it smoothed out. does this mean i have to reset the TPS and it will be ok or is that a bigger problem? the bike did sit for about 4 months before i picked it up if that helps. |

You might have to do a tps reset but run it on the highway for a good 20 miles or so let the ecm recalibrate and see if this doesn't help the problem first. |

My bike's doing a similar thing and I'm going to replace the Engine Temp Sensor this week to see if that's the problem. I'll let you know if it works for me. |

check for intake leaks... take it for a run on the highway to recalibrate the ecm like previously stated. always works for me. |

If it's been sitting up for 4 months, a fresh tank of gas with a dose of Seafoam or Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner might help. |

+ 1, Brumbear, "let the ecm recalibrate and see if this doesn't help the problem first." Recalibrate ECM by riding at steady rpm ('round 3.5k rpm), 10 minutes. And, time starts AFTER engine's thoroughly warmed-up. |

Well for recaling the ECM, if you have the ECMSpy cable you would reset the AFVs and TPS too. That might help. BTW, with the bike sitting for 4 months, you did use stabil in the tank, right? |

3rd gear, 3000 rpm, 30 seconds. That'll usually do it. It didn't do it on my XT, so I took it out and romped on it to like 6000 rpm in second and then also in third. It sputtered and spit out all kinds of junk. Runs pretty good now. |

Have you done the white wire mod? That will definitely help in the 3k-4k rpm range. |

http://www.fatbiker.co.uk/2008/08/16/white-wire-mo d-pictures/ This should help you out. Also if you have the ECMSpy tuning guide it has walk through on page 28-29. (Message edited by terrys1980 on April 06, 2010) |

I may be out to lunch, but I thought the white wire mod was for European models only. |
