Bad news guys Skip has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. What looked like a case of acid reflux this morning has turn into a serious problem so much so he started to crash a bit ago. He is being rushed to surgery right now even though his vital are unstable to try to find the problem. We need some big time prayers tonight guys!!! |

Jan texted me around 1 am and said Skip survived the surgery now minus some small intestine. Blood pressure was holding low but stable with the next 48 hours crucial. I'm praying this is just a speed bump on the road to recovery. Yesterday Skip was the most aware he's been since the head injury and I want to see that continue! |

Well I didn't know it at the time but when Skip had his emergency surgery and they removed a piece of his small intestine the Doctors left it unattached and him open. Today they felt he had shown no other signs of problems and recovered enough to reattach his intestine and close him up. Skipper is out of surgery and stable. Let's just pray that's the only speed bump on the road to recovery. Thanks again for all the prayer!! |

Well things have been status quo since the surgery Thursday. With all the meds and pain killers he's been on it was a quiet weekend Skip had slipped back into the coma during the problems last week and just now starting to move around a little. The Doctors are starting to hold back the pain meds to try to get him to start responding again. Looks like he lost about two weeks worth of his progress. Now they have to start over and coxes him back out again. This has put back clearance to return home another two to four weeks out. Jan flew back last Sunday so she could be at work this week to catch up but will be returning this weekend. She needed the break after staying in the ICU for 4 weeks. We needs some BIG PRAYERS to help him find his way back out again! |

It was a fairly quiet Easter weekend for Skip. He did have a 102 fever Friday but it was handled fairly quickly. Skip is starting to do the same things he did a few weeks ago when he worked his way out of the coma. He's moving around more and opening his eye's again but he's not focusing on anyone yet. The ventilator that he has relied on to assist his breathing was taken out of the room over the weekend. This is great news because now the Doctors feel he can travel this week. Jan's waiting on his hand Doctor to do one more check and recast and he might be coming home as soon as tomorrow!!! |

Well the day has come, Skip is flying home. He was cleared to go Monday but Jan had to wait till a bed in St. Luke's ICU, here in Houston , opened up. On the medical side Skip is making the same type of progress he did before the intestine problem. He is almost back to where he was as he is starting to show some signs of awareness. Keep them prayers coming so he can follow them out of the fog! Thanks Everyone! I have started listing some of Skip's goodies on Ebay. The items are being sold under seller "70rsss" account with new items added daily or as time allows. Please check them out and tell anyone that might be interested so hopefully we can generate some capital for the family. The Bradley Family has asked me to personally thank Erik Buell Racing for donating the parts needed to repair Skips crashed Buell. This was a very kind and much appreciated action on their part. Now with a little paint work the Buell can go up for sell. Someone will get a really cool bike that I'll hate seeing gone. |

After a harrowing evening of ups and downs I'm happy to say Skip made it to Houston and checked into St. Luke Hospital. When the jet detoured to Panama City yesterday Skipper was taken to hospital where it was determined Skip was suffering from Pericarditis. Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium, a sac that surrounds the heart. Serious but not as much as a heart attack. Once stable, the Doctors and Pilots put their heads together and determined it was safe to bring Skip on to Houston....Thank God! Skip was admitted to room 7S3 Bed2 at around 9:30 last night. I have not talked to Jan yet so I haven't been told why he had pericarditis....don't know if it was flight related or something new we have to worry about....time will tell I guess. I'm heading over after work so my next update will be first hand! Thanks everyone for the support! Scott |

I got to see Skipper last Friday for the first time since the end of Daytona Bike week. First impressions.....he has lost a lot of weight! He opened his eyes off and on during my visit but never really looked at anything but maybe the TV a little. He was totally unresponsive to any verbal commands, but it was still great to have him back in town. A recent CAT scan showed improvements to the left and right sides of the Brain. The Doctors are concerned about the center though, they are afraid it's not receiving enough blood flow. A MRI was done yesterday to check this out but Skip moved too much for a clear picture. They are going to try again today. I tried to see him yesterday after work but they moved him out of the ICU to the next level of care down. With the move comes no visiting hours between 6 & 8 pm during shift change. So I'll try again tonight after 8:00. Now for some positive news. The Doctor got Skip to follow some commands yesterday. He asked Skip to close his eyes and he blinked. When asked a second time to close his eyes he blinked again. Next Skip was asked to stick out his tongue and he did. Along with this he was tracking the Doctor with his eyes and puckered up again when Jan gave him a kiss. It might not be much progress but it is something to build on!!! Thanks everyone for the donations, prayers and thoughts! Scott |
