Nice pics! We didn't get as much snow here in the SE as you did, but wound up with 6-inches after all was said & done. Ohio is a pretty good place to combine MC riding and hunting ehh? First year in a decade I went deer-less. My claim to fame this year was a 70 lb coyote taken at 75 yds running along a log with my smoke pole. Spring turkey season is just around the corner! :-) |

I'm going to plant corn this spring all around the edge of that open area and in a few other places. My wife has taken a shine to venison and if I don't go crazy.... it should remain cost effective. |

My kids won't even eat beef anymore ("doesn't taste as good"). Be honest now Mark, have you ever cost out what a deer takes to harvest? Assuming your time costs nothing (I'm willing to make this assumption only because an hour in the woods is an hour not in the office) a pound of venison is easily double the cost of beef. I'm not complaining, I wouldn't have it any other way, just callin' it for what it is. Now, how much will that corn cost? |

The more ya take the cheaper it gets... My wife figures I dropped about a grand on hunting stuff I bought a used bow and got my arrows and release from Daves. I put about 100 lbs in the freezer... 10 bucks a pound. Next year I wont let any skin heads walk buy. Waiting for the big rack wont be a priority. We can take six and I'm gonna do my best to reach that goal. |

Well, for various reasons, I hunt 2+ states and licensing alone can get pretty hairy. If I would just stay on my own property it would be quite a bit more cost effective. Price does come down over time though for sure. |

ITS SPRING!! I moved the stand today and cut some shooting lanes. I picked a much LARGER tree. Last years tree was only about 8 inches and would sway when I moved. I also cut a small trail to my new tree stand location. I'll take some pics once it starts to green up some... On my way into the woods I saw some HUGE tracks.... I hope he comes back this fall. I'm gonna start putting some corn out every now and then so they may relax a little... |

Hey Dave, do you recommend a bow tune up? If so, what should I be asking for? |

Dude... I can't wait! I had a new string and silencers put on it, the bow should be good to go. I was teaching a MSF class the weekend season starts but was able to switch it to a week day class for the Air National Guard. Not only do I get to sit in the tree the first day of season, I get to help out some peeps in the service. WIN WIN FOR ME! |

Less than two weeks to go. Found 6 kids running around my hunting area today shooting soft pellet guns at each other. I was so pissed I was shaking.... gave them the "private property" speech and told them the sheriff would be called the next time I caught them. I figured I would go ahead and put up another stand at a pinch point where the fence ends. The little bastards had already stunk the place up so I may as well do some sweating. I hope it rains a couple times before the 25th..... and I wish the farmers would hurry up and cut the corn off |

They started bringing in Corn around Lebanon this weekend, and like clockwork I was seeing deer *everywhere* this weekend while riding... I'm guessing with all the rain it will be a great year for the deer... |

Thanks Nuts, it was cool having Fred come by the shop. He is a really good guy. The shop, and I will also be airing on Beyond the Hunt with Rick and Julie later this year. I have 2 friends/customers that hunt and film for them. Season is now 2 weeks away here in Iowa! I am rockin at the shop! I did squeeze in a local 3D shoot yesterday. Figured I should go since I sponsored it! Even managed to win some of my own money back, Whooo Hoooo! Good luck to the rest of the hunters here on Badweb. Hopefully we can put some pics of our success here soon. |

2 weeks from today for me! Going hunting with my recurve opening morning. Sunday morning I'm going to a 3d shoot and then scout the public area we are going to hunt. Can't wait! I have another new hunter I'm going to help this year. Bernice has never hunted before. I'm looking forward to getting her on her first deer. |

I guess I have turned into the "help the gals" guy? Kari last year and she is going to continue to hunt with me/us. Bernice and Christine this year. Couple more years my whole crew will be chicks? It's fun watching how they handle/adapt to the challenges of bow hunting. I might need a bigger truck! |

you have to feel the same way I do when I teach a Basic Rider Course. Its a ton of fun for me to see the smiles. I spent last night practicing from a seated position. Everything seamed to be going a little to the right.... gotta do a little more tweaking |

I have acquired a muzzle loader. It is a 50 cal Knight breech cap unit. Looks like my employee, who did a four year stint in the Army then came back to work for me, has finally talked me into getting back into the game. Getting my "tirdy-tirdy" out for some sighting in also. Aww heck, might as well get out the hand guns and clean them all when I get done! He has a friends farm where he has hunted for a long time with room for me. He has been out setting up his camera, tree stands and such for a few evenings. I spent a little time down at the "you bet we got ammo and stuff" store the other night. Looks like this is gonna cost me! I haven't officially been deer hunting but only one time since '85. That is just long enough to need all new gear. I just hope I have enough time to make it worth while. If I had enough time and money now, I would be making a trip to see you Dave. |

I hope I get to post some trail cam pic's tomorrow. I think I'm going to move it so it is looking at my feeders unless it has a ton of pics. Then I'll just leave it alone |
