Just got back from 2 weeks in China/Vietnam and now finding some time to tinker with the bike. The XB windscreen showed up while I was gone so I decided to start the mock up of the conversion. So far, still undecided on the end result. I like the idea of dual headlights but have not found an option that works once I put it together. Thinking of leaving the windscreen black to blend in a bit more. Red would be too much. Thoughts?

No, the windscreen is just taped on there for now and the headlights are ziptied! Wanted to see what it looked like before I made mounts. Nate |

Personally i like the look in the last pic with the stock single light, it looks good all blacked out. What do the Dual lights look like sans screen and mounted slightly higher?. |

I personally think it looks a hundred times better with the single light and no screen. |

Dual lights and no screen looks funny in my opinion. Phelan I do like the round light but feel the need to do something different. Been fighting the urge to get the CR fairing and light but don't think it would go with the naked look good. Might make up the brackets soon and give it a shot. If I don't like it, I can always sell the kit. nate |

"Dual lights and no screen looks funny in my opinion." I agree.....with the XB lights. They really need the flyscreen. On the other hand, I REALLY like just a pair of round lights, if they are the right lights. I'll try to get some piics of my setup once the sun comes out again. |

I just think, in this situation, less is more. I really like how the the single with no screen looks. Almost every X1 I've seen with XB wheels has XBS lights too. It's nice to see something with a different combination of old and new. |

Me too, the red, black and gold just seems so right, makes me want to go out to the shed and turf the flyscreen and paint the headlight surround black. Still i'd be lacking the XB wheels and red paint but |

I don't like the small headlight look like that. I am going to make the brackets and mount it up to see how I like it. Nate |

I think if you moved the dual headlights out and up more then the screen would angle back and flow better. Then shape the bottom edge of the screen to match the duals and it would look good. The way you've got them right now the screen is to vertical. |

If you want different....Firebolt or 1125R fairing. But I'm in on the single light. You could always go S2 and put a square single in there....and I think (maybe since I own one) that the CR setup is cool too! (Message edited by ratbuell on April 04, 2010) |

I love the look of the XB lights on my bike. If you look at the last 2 pics, the first is the XB and the last is the X1.... i like how much lower the XB flyscreen sits compaired to the X1 and how cleaner it looks..... HOWEVER..... if i had clip ons i would go with a single V-rod light. I think that would look KILLER on your bike. (with NO flycreen) Im looking for an s1 to do the v-rod light on. I do like having a flyscreen though for highway riding, does make a little differece. |

I like the single light that the X1 came with. The XB lighting is pretty marginal. It looks good though. I bet a Triumph dual light setup would be better but probably crazy expensive. |

Thanks for the pics Purpony, I saw yours awhile ago and liked it quite a bit. I agree on the flyscreen being too vertical but the dash I made is lower and more horizontal than the stock one and was made to go without a flyscreen. It will be tough to get it more vertical. Maybe I should go with an XB dash? Nate |

I used the entire XB front end. I drilled and tapped 3 1/4-20 holes into the front of my upper clamp and bolted it on. I made a couple spacers to allow it to fit. I used my original gauges and made my own dash, i have also heard of others that have had luck getting the XB digital dash to work. heres the dash i made to fit the XB front housing. Also, had a good day yesterday, Got my XB rear spacers made, machined my swingarm, and got my new rear brake bracket made. Hopefully my XB wheel conversion will be completed very soon! |

With all the XB parts on your bike, wouldn't it be easier to just buy an XB? |

Thanks Marc- likewise! I love your install of the XB lights. I actually did a similar install on our old Blast after seeing your bike for the first time! ...however now I wish I had not used those parts on the Blast so I had them for my X1
