In my quest to find a replacement mirror for the 1125CR vibrating insect looking mirrors I came accross a company in California called Moto-Science (www.moto-science.com) who was selling ducati mirrors for the Firebolt on E-bay. I sent them an e-mail and the owner called me back and made several suggestions regarding the setup on the 1125CR. I eventually went with a set of these teardrop mirrors, here you see a picture of one of the mirrors on the right and the stock one on the left. I went for a ride on the bike like this and the difference was dramatic in terms of vibration and adjustment, the mirror actually tilts up and down, what a concept!
I did notice a slightly faster blink rate over the stock ones probably as a result of less LEDs in the mirror (there are 4). As it turns out the company that makes this mirror was supposed to make the mirrors on the 1125CR (not this style but a closer match to the ones we have) and apparently Buell decided to have them made in China instead, and we all know how that turned out, don't we. |

Nice. I'm sure a lot of people will change theirs, so I'll post a standing offer. $50/set for good condition (working, no cracks, full length wires) CR mirrors. I have CR mirrors on my CR (duh) and my Ulysses and love 'em; got a Blast, M2L and S1W they'd look great on too Just a thought to soften the blow for folks who want to upgrade... |

Fierrosc, I like the look. It looks like they "bolted" right up with no problems. Did they plug right in to the stock harness? Thanks for the help. |

They did bolt right up to the controls, I did not try to use the stock arms to push them forward and I don't think it's necessary. There was a little bit of a disconnect between me and moto-science in regards to the stock wiring harness. And so the kit came with 4 bullet crimp connectors instead of 2 bullet and 2 female as it turns out the factory Buell harness uses a female for the hot wire and a male for the ground. The kit also did not include any black zip ties. So I have communicated this information back to Henri (the owner of moto-science) and he will be including these items in the kit moving forward as long as he knows that you are purchasing the item for a Buell. He also has a number of other style mirrors available including the ones that were originally designed for the 1125CR before Buell decided to send the mirror to China. I've got both mirrors on today and will post some more pictures from difference angles later today. |

Those look sweet. Any chance they weigh less than the stockers? |

The mirrors feel a lot lighter, the arm is not metal but the mount is (that screws into the controls) and is heavy. Like our they are a two piece setup (mirror + arm and mount). Unlike ours these mirrors swivel up and down on the arm. I did not weight them, but will see if I can get Moto-Science to do so and I'll weight the stock ones with mount and bolt and post later. |

Thanks. Just them "feeling" lighter means they have a noticeable weight difference. I will probably get them anyway but the weight savings is just icing for me. After the rear fender, I always thought the mirrors were a bit of an eye-sore. Plus the fact that I can't see anything out of them after about 40mph makes me want to ditch them. |

According to Henri, the owner of Moto-Science the construction of the mirror is ABS plastic shell, steel arm under the plastic cover, the mount is steel clamping nut into threaded stud. And the mirrors weight is 11 oz including mount. I weighted my stock one on my scale at home (could be off) and including mount and bolt it weights 18.5 oz. |

Faster blink rate probably the relay thats in the bike is not designed for those lights. It may not hurt it anyway. |

The blink rate is slightly faster, but not crazy fast like when I put LED on my XB12STT. The website to order them is... http://www.moto-science.com/products/buell-firebol t-led-mirrors Tell him you heard about them through the BadWeatherBikers forum, who knows maybe he will do a group buy thing. |

That price is just absurd. I really was digging them until I saw the price tag. Holy Smokes. These things better make coffee for that price. |

I like the weight savings and the housing adjusts unlike the stocker where the mirror only adjusts. $95 ea. and better quality. One of my dealers I buy parts from would charge $85 for the stocker. Another as low as $73. |

Unfortunately this is the market for the LED/mirror in one setups. I am really going to think about upgrading just for functionality of these. The Stockers just suck period! |

They may not make coffee for you, but they just might save your life. I decided to replace my stock ones after this little close call. I was being tailed by a car (couldn't tell what it was due to the mirror vibration) and just as I threw in the towel and decided to move over and let him pass me he did the same and moved over into the center at the same time to pass me on the right. If I had know it was a Mustang GT500 Shelby Cobra I would have gotten the hell out of his way long before he almost ran me over at 128 mph. |

Freezerburn840, Ask about his return policy, I was told that as long as you don't hook up the LED's and don't scratch the mirror, you can return it to him (if it's in new condition) if you don't like how it works out. There are some other styles available that have a larger mirror and more LED's as well. I choose these for the shape of the mirrors alone as I thought the went with the bike's. |

Thanks for the info on returns. I do like the shape and how it looks. I think they suit the bike very well. Functionality and less vibration is the key and looks like it will do both. It needs to for that price. I might check out the other styles as long as the housing will move like this one. |

If I recall the other mirrors both rotate up and down AND tilt in and out. But you might want to confirm that before ordering. |

Well, looking better than the stock ones is just a plus, being able to use them and SEE something behind you is the main reason!! On top of that, the price is not bad at all! They are a lot cheaper than Rizoma's bar ends.. heck, they are cheaper than Rizoma or CRG bar ends if you count that you need turn signals on top of the mirrors! I am in! Group buy anyone??? |

Lower+looks better, adjustable, and lighter by almost 1 lb for the set. Yes, I think these are the ones. |

I'm in for a group buy. Or I am going to wait a little bit before I buy. If they can knock off %15 to 20% from 189.00 I will do it today. (Message edited by freezerburn840 on April 02, 2010) |

Freezerburn840, I got some e-mails from them earlier today regarding the materials and weights and then ask about a group buy, (if available how many need to be in the group for what price) but haven't heard back yet. Will post when I get the info. |

Henri just called me. Nice guy he knows his mirrors. The group buy thing he is shunning away from. He needs I think like 10 sets to get going really did not get an exact number. I really did not push the subject. He said the same thing to me about customer satisfaction. You can return if you dont like them but you cant turn them on or scratch it. He told me it should mount real easy to our bikes. Gurantees the Led's for two years. Told me they should have been the one's supplying the OEM Buell mirrors. We would have had the functionality from the housing up top and down at the base. Buell outsourced the Ducati Monster style mirror to China and just changed the look cosmetically and of course made the functionality suck balls. I think they are already up on his website so you can order them today although they probably won't ship until monday. BTW...I feel better about him NOT doing the group buy thing. After all I paid full price for mine. ;-(=) |
