Looks like I'm going to have to buy a rear caliper & mounting plate. Does anybody know if the Uly & XB12R (2005) swingarm & brake set-up are the same? |

I know the swingarm is different - you need a long wheelbase swingarm to match a Uly. Either an Ss, a TT, or another Uly. Not sure on the bracket, but I'd guess it goes with the swingarm....Froggy? |

Why you always pinning it on me? I don't even have a Uly parts book to check! But the caliper is the same for sure, I can't confirm the mounting bracket. |

You have a ...um...'reshaped' Uly, but no Uly parts book? Besides, I thought you were past the "book" stage and had a USB port somewhere on your noggin, and just plugged this stuff in! |

That's okay. I just went ahead and ordered one from (hurts to say it) H.D. Listen...I'm going to tell on myself for the good of the group. Last night I was taking off my back wheel for a tire change. The axle seemed really tight when I was backing it out with the ratchet. Eventually the threads gave me that growling noise they make when something’s really under stress - so I backed out the pinch bolt some more and shoved on the wrench one more time. Grrrrowllll....SNAP! The axle had corroded and fused to the bearing - so instead of the axle sliding through the bearing, it was pushing the swingarm apart. I guess I was lucky the brake plate was the weakest link. Otherwise I might have damaged my swingarm (or something else). Stupid, stupid, stupid. Well, anyway, once my single functioning brain cell fired off a message telling me something bad was happening, it was easy to squirt some penetrating oil on the face of the bearing and pop it all loose with a bump from a leather mallet. So there's my confession. I can only hope it helps somebody else if they hear those axle threads growl. |
