So after 625 miles on the odometer (250 of those were mine) my bike was totaled. I was riding around two weeks ago and I stopped at a friend's house. I let him ride it and he hit a patch of gravel and laid it down. He broke his hand but thank Sylvester Roper he's ok besides that. The bike didn't look terrible at night but the next day my dad and I started to see everything that was damaged. Insurance company totaled it out and I have found a new one and picked it up the other day. It cost a little more than the other one but it is the same model and color and everything, only this one is an 08 STT and it came with a warranty and 14 miles on it! Also the dealer (Ray C's in Lapeer MI, great shop!) gave me a few Buell posters and a logo'd bike lock they wanted to get rid of. Cool stuff! (If anyone is still looking for a Blast, they have 2 left). I wanted to get the word out about the totaled bike. Insurance wanted $2500 for it and I didn't take it. I have no idea where it is going, but I'm sure it'll end up at a salvage auction somewhere in SE Michigan. I can post pictures if anyone is interested. The frame, swingarm and at least one fork are damaged, as well as the instrument/headlight assembly and some other things. I can post pictures (my dad took about a hundred after the crash) if there is an interest. The motor is probably fine, hasn't even been fully broken in yet. And I'm sure there is plenty more that can be taken off of it for parts. So, I asked this when I got the other bike, but is there anything different between 07's and 08's that I should be aware of, as far as preventative maintenance? I know the engine has a few refinements but otherwise everything else seems to be exactly the same. thanks guys and happy Buell-ing! Nick |

The only difference I know of, is the new one shouldn't be ridden by anyone but the owner. Glad to hear everything worked out well for ya! |

I know the 08-ups are more finicky about the oil check procedure than the earlier bikes with the old oiling system. Not sure what the latest recommendation on that is. |

07> ddfi2 08> ddfi3 IIRC, the crankpin is also larger PM Froggy, he's got the whole list. <hotrod, 08 owner |

The 08 is a vastly superior upgrade! Enjoy the reduced maintenance, stronger engine, better fuel injection, higher redline, and increased smoothness. Get the 2010 right side scoop installed, get your bike's ECM updated to the latest calibration to improve on fueling issues with older 08's, then ride the piss out of it |

Don't '08's not need the TPS reset? |

Thanks! I ordered the scoop (M0851.7AA) today and I'll get the updates done soon. Definitely an older 08, manufacture date is July 07. BTW is there any place for parts diagrams online? Or can I get one from a dealer? |

Don't '08's not need the TPS reset? yes, but you can do it yourself, without ECM Spy or a dealer. the procedure is in the shop manual. |
