Do they send a letter to owners or must you contact your dealer for the updated harness? No problems so far. Mine was made in May 09.

Call the dealer with your VIN. They will tell you if you need one.

You should get a letter, but I would call the Dealer as suggested.

It's not a recall, its completely optional and free upgrade. You should get a letter in the mail, but your dealer can check your VIN and see if your bike qualifies.

Yeah, its a good thing to do, if you like your stator to keep working. Mine just got knocked out a 5k.

Does this only apply to the 09 and 10 bikes or are the 08's included in this update?

It only applies to 2008 models if the engine was replaced.

Regarding the wiring harness replacement. Does anyone know if one can get the part shipped to them so they can install it themselves? I am having a hard time, due to work, synchronizing with appointments to go to the shop. So, I would rather just do it myself.

Very likely they will not just send you the harness. The ECM has to be re-flashed to control the charging system differently after the harness is installed.

I just dropped mine off at the dealer tonight for the upgraded harness. I didn't know it required an ECM e-flash. I hope they know that!! I will double check when I pick it up.

Jjr1125,

If you already have the latest flash (updated back in October?), then you won't get a new flash.

I already had the latest flash for the CR (152). So, all they had to do was install the harness.
