Blake, you are going to love this one. Remeber that Buell ad froma few years ago showing the M2 hanging up in the meatlocker? Well I just looked at the new issue of Superbike...UK mag..& near the front there is an ad for the Yamaha FJR1300 showing the bike hanging up in a meatlocker next to the sides of beef. Almost an exact ripoff. I thought it was too funny. |

The Japanese certainly have an aptitude for copying and improving upon other peoples ideas. |

LOL...that was always one of my favorite Buell ads. I like the squirrel one best, though...it was my desktop for a long time. |

I never like that Ad agency. If I were going to copy an ad, I'd copy the smiley face one.... Vik |

The meat locker ad was good when it first came out. But now with so many Buells being parted out that ad takes on a whole new connotation. Ouch. |

Blake, Look on Ebay. There's more Buell motors running around in "Sportster" powered choppers than Sportster motors. JT |

Forgive me if this is a dumb question but...what exactly does a Buell or, a Yamaha for that matter, have to do with a side of beef? Were there captions to the ads that I'm missing? |

No captions on the Yammy ad, dont recall if the Buell had one or not. Gotta be something to do with all beef or some dumb ass deal. I agree that the ads are kinda stupid. I much prefered the squirrel one or the Smiley one. |

You liked the squirrel one?! I thought it was totally squirelly. har-d-har. Notice how the Yammer is hidden among a crowd of bunched up hanging carcasses that all look alike. Kind of appropriate don't ya think? Hey, is it a new model though? The ad appears to say "XJR1300". edited by blake on July 02, 2003 |

I think that's a non US model...along the lines of a ZRX1200, retro looks, big low/mid range torque. |

Okay, "so many" = several = quite a few = lots = some = so many. Just seems that I see a "whole lot" of parts for sale and gut feel says that the parts market for Buell parts is more active than the bike market for used Buells if someone wants a decent price depending on what one would individually call a decent price. Call it current economic trends, staus quo, don't know, but it seems like it's easier to part a bike out than to sell it complete based totally on a very limited sampling of past dealings of a very limited number of people who had initially tried to sell their bike complete then parted it out. But never mind, what is is and what isn't isn't, and so it goes round and round, pound by pound, into the ground. I'm sorry, what was the question? |

The caption was "Where's the beef?" No, wait. Wrong decade. Sorry |

Maybe it had something to do with the M2's MEATY power band? |

Well, we can at least hope that the majority of Buells being parted out are of the ugly X1 variety. Of course I think all the X1's on BadWeB are kick ass! |

It defintely had to do with the Meaty Torque (grade A or something like that, I have the ad at home on my computer) And puns takes a lot of thought to come up with. |

I wish you people would stop slaughtering the Japanese for their rustling of the Buell ad. It shows we have some common ground, meat in the middle sort of thing happening. |

Meat in the middle would be called a sandwich or a hamburger. MITM is a motorcycle event. Unoriginality in advertising just shows a lack of creativity or inventivness. YMMV. |

The agency had the right idea, but it didn't come across. The meat locker..You are right. Beefy powerband. The coat with the long arms. So much torque that it would pull your arms out of the socket. The squirrel? Animals and kids...You cannot miss out using either. REX |

That is too funny. I hope Buell sues them or makes them do a re-print where the the FJ1300 is artfully displayed on a sushi dish next to a slice of unagi. That would be just lovely. After all, presentation is a very important part of Japanese cuisine. AH-SO! |
