Sorry for breaking this into two threads, I just thought id start a fresh one for this. So after pulling the airboxes off and checking the stuff I was told to check, it all looked good. I decided to just disconnect the servo, but leave it plugged in. So I did. I zip tied the line together and tucked it down into a spot where it wouldnt get in the way of anything, and then zip tied the pullyes together like in the walk through thread. Took it out on the road and all of my problems are cured! It runs better than it did before even (at least it feels like it). So my question is, why was it doing that throttle delay? Was it a problem with the computer, or was it a mechanical problem with the solinoid/line? Im confused why it would make the bike act like that. I played with the throttle while I had everything apart, and the pulled and everything seemed to be working properly? | ||

Is the solenoid in question part of the active intake page 4-21 FIG 4-42 1125(09) service manual? | ||

The easiest is to just unplug and throw on the resistor at connection. | ||

Would the dealer ever denoid it? I'd like to do this but that dang warnt... Im sure that would void it. | ||

The active air intake solenoid is an EPA mandated noise reduction device. It is intended to limit the throttle opening to cut down the noise at a specific rpm range when the throttle is opened wide. The rpm range is about 3800-4500 or so. The solenoid pulls the throttle plates closed to about 80% of WOT to meet those regulations. It weighs about a pound, if you're a racer, that would be one of many things to remove prior to racing. Would a dealer remove it, probably not. Will it void your warranty, I doubt it, but you are messing with a "federally mandated device" so the FBI, CIA and the ATF are going to come to your house soon if you tamper with it. They'll also be looking for those tags on your mattresses that say it's not to be removed. | ||

Theoretically, a dealer could give you a problem but they really shouldn't. These are the same guys that will put straight pipes on anything they sell. My dealer sold me the noid plug and knew what it was for. Just ask them, if they don't know what it is explain it and have them look into it. If they want your business they'll work it out. Remember, the dealer has absolutely no interest in voiding your warranty. All warranty work is work they get paid for that you might not get done if it came out of your pocket. | ||

My dealer didn't connect mine up at all when the bike was new (no cable) so I just removed the whole thing.. Can't see them having a warranty issue with something they never "fitted" in the first place |
