Had an idea to try Fusion paint on my mirrors to see if I liked them as basically body color. Since it is a white bike the color was a pretty simple match. Kind of liking the white mirrors and will probably clean up the longer arm version and give them a spray, but want to let the thought sink in a little.

The white adds a nice touch to the bike. It makes it look more balanced. |

My 9 was white. Wish I would have thought of this. Looks good. IMO, I'd leave it exactly the way it is in the first pic. It's breaks it up a little bit. I also pulled the black pieces out of the headlight area. I personally thought it looked better as all one white piece. |

I've got something else in mind for the headlight area. I think I'm going to fix up the newer style (longer) mirrors and paint them. I bought them used cheap and they have some rash on them that needs to be fixed. Then I'll do a better job with the paint work, what you can't see in the pictures is the poor quality paint job I did on them, but it was good enough for a test. And eventually I will cut the mirrors open and put in some LEDs for turn signals, that's another project way down the road though. |

i do like the white ones! looks like they belong more. IMO i just think the long mirrors look out of place, but the white on them makes it look better |

The white mirrors are the stock shorties, that's why they look different. more of tonight's work:

I like the white ones. You could put LEDs in those, or use 1125R mirrors and paint them white. |

Great idea, Greg. I hate the look of the longer stemmed black ones, too Mickey Mouse like. That works for me. |

Her's something I just found... These short mirrors have the same mount as other bikes: http://www.d2moto.com/Kawasaki-Ninja-ZX6R-ZX9R-650 R-ZZR600-Mirrors-p/m023-black.htm That means there must be a bunch of other mirrors that bolt up and there may be something with LED signals in them. |

On my m2 with the firebolt fron end when I got it there were some pigspotter mirrors that I could not see anything out of so I went to a jap bike shop an bought the first set of mirrors I seen that when in a bike with a fairing and they worked. Reading the pakaging they were for some sort of Kawasaki ninja |

If the wider mirrors didn't droop, and the stock mirrors were a little longer, I'd be happy. The R6 has some nice different mirrors so I might give a different set a try to get a wider stance and no droop. |

no mirrors works best for me I like the bar-end type. All the stock type mirrors I've seen only give a good view of my elbows, or are so long they shake too much. Greg, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project. You certainly are putting a lot of thought into what you're doing. |

The amount of thought is inversely proportional to the weather outside. I don't even want to go outside and work on the thing right now, so got nothing better to do than sit and think. Also with a 45 minute commute twice a day I get lots of time to think. Just trying to wrap this all up in the next week or so to get on with much larger issues in life where I'll need to haul things like tools in the saddle bags. That and things like painting the mirrors and the new black stickers on the air cleaner cover are cheap. Once the weather gets better I don't think I'll be doing much in the way of mods, not that there is much left for the time being. That said I am not at all out of ideas, just some things take time to evolve. I do have the newer belt drive system to install, but that will wait until the stock 03 belt needs to be replaced. I want some different headlights (both with high low function). I want a different EFI system that is of the DIY nature with a better ram air intake than stock. Better bearings in the wheels next time I do a rubber change. And a couple other cosmetic changes I want to make along the way. Someday I'll have all this done, but as I said there is a much bigger issue hanging on my back that I need to deal with as soon as it is warm enough to start. |
