So can you guys tell me where and how you routed your breather hoses and do you not use a filter at all? Right now i have mine running down up under the seat with a breather filter mounted right there where the engine fan sits. Then I have about a 6in piece of hose capped off at the end, drain it occasionally.
I did as the others stated above. I routed my line the same way the fuel over flow ran. Where the over flow tube sits behind the rear set, it tie wrapped my breather hose to it. Couldn't see it at all...
I'm Toast. Had my 50th B'day party today for next Wednesday's hilltop experience. I don't know where the thread went to. I have some balloon clips on youtube;
I did find this vid by someone else;
You don't need to put the filter and hose plug on it. Just run it open. Mine is far enough to the left side that I don't get any splooge on my tire. And don't bother checking out that website either. Pay attention to other possible way or routes for the hose to avoid any uphill stretches. Here is another guys take on it;
And just in case you want to know why we do this;
Lots of info in video format, buyer beware though, this is the internet.
I did have a NOS bottle as a joke when I first did this setup, but too many people would say "wholy cow you have NOS on that thing!?!?" my friends and I thought it was funny but it got old fast.
I change them out periodically for fun. but the red bull was the best because the plastic melted at a low temp (I chuck the fitting into a drill and spin it to melt the plastic around the brass for a solid fit) and the bottle was clear with a plastic label. I was able to cut small window in it to show how full the can is. (oddly enough it fills with gunk that is the same color as the red bull that was in it)
I think I will try a no-doze bottle next, that or find an airplane size alcohol bottle.
does anybody know what the product was that had a small aluminum bottle? the old 5 hour energy maybe?
(oddly enough it fills with gunk that is the same color as the red bull that was in it) The secret's out! does anybody know what the product was that had a small aluminum bottle? Dunno, but I'll keep an eye out, for a little aluminum bottle.
I ran a catch can just after I hit 1,000 miles. The airbox was spotless inside when I opened it up. I ran the catch can for 100 miles and opened the drain, not a drop came out. I did this again 100 miles later. Finally I removed it and weighed everything with a jewelers scale before and after cleaning it out. What the system caught was less than 1 gram. We had similar results with by buddies identical 09 XB9SX. I removed mine.
Another friend with a 07 XB12 however does get 1/2 - 1 ounce every fill up.
Just remember to open the can and empty it now and then. Just the other day, mine filled. Splooge everywhere! Three rides after winter. I need to remember to empty my can.
