I know a few people here who have the ECM requested the idle be lower , what rpm did u give them , or did they just use their judgement and bumped it back a little ?

yep, he set mine at 1200...and i was standing next to him when he did it..it will still fast idle when cold, according to temp of the bike.

Curious, why do they idle quite high with the factory ECM ... Even after fully warmed up?

i was told, they like to warm the race bikes up quickly..so set the idle high....opps, thought you were talking about the ebr race ecm

Idle speed was raised to keep the charging system working.
At low rpm the alternator does not put out enough voltage so they raised it with a "flash".

Watch your voltage and do not idle for long when the bike is hot.

I've read that it can be tweaked with the new ECMread, I am gonna have to experiment : )

I asked Mike to drop my idle from 1600 to 11-1200 when I ordered the ECM.
He e-mailed me that he did just that, I was impressed!

Do keep an eye on system voltage tho, this low an idle speed WILL discharge the battery while idling at op-temp of 180F+.
I have a Kuryakyn LED voltmeter on my fairing stay below the IC, so I keep an eye open.
6 months later we got voltage on the IC, go figure... : )

I was "on break" on my iPhone earlier, so I wanted to add some info.

I'd like the idle even lower, but I think we're on the edge with these short-stroke monsters.

I also noticed, yesterday, that my IC does NOT flash COLD anymore... YAY!!!!
I can access CT or AT screens without going to Diag Mode, another BIG plus.
Best bang-for-buck deal yet on Loretta is this ECM.
Loretta has NEVER run this good. 24.3k miles.
