Was snooping around Craigslist for parts, came across this ad. It's amazing to me how people this dumb can stay in business. Try and guess what a used 2008 1125r is "worth" in Oceanside California? What if it's "super clean!" (because they washed it?) Well this bike can be yours for ONLY $9900!! (or you can walk over to the dealership and get one for $4000 less, but that one might not be "super clean"). ha ha ... http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ctd/165349861 8.html ps. I'm not saying these bikes aren't truly worth a helluva lot more than you'd pay to get one now. I'm just saying, well you know, that the current market is such that this ad is idiotic.

Just a guess, but they're an AUTO brokerage business, they probably took it in on a trade. They went by the KBB value and probably still screwed the guy on the trade. Follow that up with a huge markup in price, there it is. $9900. |

show me where you can find an 1125R for "$4000 less" in california, there is only one new 1125R left in CA and you won't get it for $6k, in fact, I've seen used 2008 1125Rs at multiple dealers priced at $7995 or $7999, and none of them were beauty queens. |

The dealers I have contacted, that still have new Buells, are selling at $1000 below MSRP and not at fire sale prices any more. |

Asking prices have definitely begun rebounding on the 1125Rs. I don't know how many bikes are actually selling for the full asking price, but there is no shortage of people asking $7000+ for used '08s. If I didn't enjoy my 1125R so much, I'd think about reselling it for a profit. But honestly, there is nothing else I could get for the money that I'd like more. |

Just for reference I mobbed one of the HD dealerships for a few days leading up to the fire sale and was there at noon on the first day and picked up an 08 1125R with side fairings for 6400 (7100 OTD). It had about 100 miles and had been sitting in the show room for 2 years. Your not going to get the bargain prices (4k) in Southern California cause we ride year round. I already have 2000 miles on it and its a 2nd bike. |

Prices are definately on the upturn even here in the UK, I've seen a couple of 08s go second hand on eBay for $1500 more than I paid for my new 09 in January and I managed to get the fairing panels thrown in for free too.. I could probably sell mine at a profit now too - but why would I? lol |

Prices seem to be a function of where you live, and how likely you find someone that isn't scared-off by Buell being out of business. I have an 09 1125R in white and blue that I bought new last Fall for $7000. I installed heated grips and decided after a house move this Spring that I don't need 2 Buells. I've had mine at a large consignment place in SD for over a month. They are asking $6995 and there are no takers...... (bike is spotless w/832 miles) |

Also in California due to smog laws it's not easy to buy a non-cali bike and ship it here and get registration...so that makes prices a little higher. But the o.p. price is crazy |

I payed $6900 out the door for a brand new 08 1125r with only 18 miles on it, not a scratch on it either and came with 2year warranty, up here in New Hampshire a few weeks ago. I have seen the same bikes on ebay that have 5,000-15,0000 miles on them going for up to $9000 (Message edited by ker37 on March 27, 2010) |
