i think its not suppose to be charging at lower rmp...just had mine installed, goes up to 14.1, but less thank 4 k, mostly runing around 12.9 or 13s. |

I'm not charging at all under 4000rpm and not charging enough above that. |

It does not completely stop the battery from charging. It will cycle one leg of the stator on and off to reduce the stator output. So, there is still always power coming from the stator, it just depends on whether it is enough to overcome the deficit. Also, the ECM monitors battery voltage and if it gets too low it will turn off the stator harness cycling so that it runs at full output. I can't remember specifically what the cycle time is but it's somewhere around 2min off and 1 min on regarding the switched stator leg. |

took it out for a longer ride, maybe 50 or so miles...it now runs the gammet ...from 4.something, to 12.8 or so....does this sound about right? |

Did you mean 14 or did you actually see 4? There's no way your bike should be running if you are reading 4V. |

Rode mine about 370 miles now since the update. MPG sucks. AFV was 90F 90R or something. Now both 100. My voltage ranges from about 13.9-14.4 regardless of RPM. She runs nice though. I will never complain about MPG with this bike, so don't think I am, It's just different from b4 the update. |

I'm talking about instant MPG at freeway speed (75mph) I could draft behind a truck at 75mph getting 55mpg now its like 38 |

In that case you should be golden. Between 14 and 12.8 is completely acceptable and should keep both your battery and stator in healthy shape. |

Just got mine back today. Its running well. I have not noticed a difference in low performance or mpg. Voltage is between 13.8 and 14.1 consistantly. I will find out more tomorrow when I go on 3 to 4 hour ride. |

My mpg sucks anyhow. I only average 31 mpg. I don't ride like an ass (at least not since the break-in) and it's barely seen the other side of a ton. My bike is parked for now cause it looks like the stator is shot. It took two days to charge the battery back to 11.8v. Western Reserve is going to pick it up late next week and they say the parts will be a couple of weeks for the "service bulletin". I bet they won't even order a stator until they look at the bike. More waiting... (Message edited by Freight_dog on March 20, 2010) |

Had my wiring harness upgrade done yesterday. Took a 100 mile jaunt today. It is running like a scalded dog. Buell of Frederick even washed my bike while it was there! They did a great job. In and out quick, thanks guys! |

After my 4 hour jaunt through some canyons and some traffic. The Charging system seems to be holding up well. The volts did drop to 13.3 once but normally it was between 13.7 and 14 consistently. I also noticed that my gauge cluster is not pulsing anymore either. Very pleased with upgrade so far. Hopefully this fix stands the test of time. MPG on the ride to work today 75 mile jaunt showing 37 to 40 on average. Which was the same as before the harness. Afv's are looking good at 100 front and rear. |

Took my bike in for the Harness upgrade last Thursday. But when I was on my way to the dealer to take care of the Harness recall. My foot slipped a few times while I was trying to brake. ( Leaking Clutch Cover Issue) It was all over the rear brake pedal & dripping on the floor. I also asked to take a look at the flickering cluster issue since the bike is gonna be there awhile. Only good thing about it..Is that on Thursday night when I took my Buell in for repairs. I got a free dyno run. I'll post my numbers later when I get the Dyno file. Is it just me or is the charging system "update" just a band aid for a problem that still exists? Hold on, wait, it is... Why can it not be fixed right? I dunno of any other bike that has this problem... |

capt I've been through three stators have the updated harness and flash and stator. I have over 20000 miles on my cr! after the third stator I still had to take my bike in for the harness and flash witch is the update for handling this "issue". I just ride the piss out of it. I feel that buell and all responsible are doing everything they can to address the problem and make it a non issue in the future. Not just a band aid |

Why can't they fix the stator instead of a band-aid? Simple, Buell is gone and there is no one else left to develop a better stator. Don't bother with the argument that HD is still around because one they don't care, and two they don't know anything about the Buell bikes. An updated stator was supposed to come out the following model year but it was killed along with the company. |

Waaaaaaaa! Muther Effffin HD! Oh well I guess. Mine is working ok so far... So how many HD haters are out there now because Buell got kicked? just us, or more? (Message edited by captain_america on March 23, 2010) |

Well, I think a lot of bike fans are very disappointed in the closure of Buell. I doubt anyone who didn't already think HD was a joke changed their opinion. |

I was never really a HD guy. I've only seen one bike I like at SD Harley I don't even know what it was... A newer bike with a springer front end and a olive green military look to it..... Anyway, I now know they are a joke... Especially from the service dept of the dealer I go to.. |

Mine reads a constant 14.1 without the new harness.Wonder what it'll read after the upgrade. |
