"The 2003 Salt Peter Fund" Okay...Sir Fireman. I'm in for $100.00 Next? Like last year, any leftovers stand a snowballs chance in hell of being refunded but instead will be used as "Salt-erships" for dedicated Elves who've been hit with joblessness, kids in college or any reason, in my SOLE DISCRETION, who need to be there and are high-centered. Been there, done that. Anything that doesn't get used in "Salt-erships" will be pissed away on Mararitas by a group of folks you can sit in Iowa and be damn thankful are in Utah and not on your patio. (actually, we are pretty damn frugal) Court |

Might even make it there yet. #1 Biggest Boss (Ingrid) has mumbled something that sounded like "oh, ok then...", immediate work boss also said ok, just have to check that the tour to India (that's still not finalised yet) won't conflict. |

>>>Might even make it there yet That's an inaccurate statement, you will be here. The "hows" and "permissions" will get sorted out but it's not a "kinda sorta probably" kinda thing. This will be TEAM ELVES biggest year at The Bonneville Salt Flats and I am not going without our own little mouthy, high-minded, pain-in-the-butt Aussie defected to Hamsterdamian. You keep begging, I'll keep begging. Just shut up and mark your calendar. The LAST thing I want the folks in Colorado worrying about is dealing with lack of Peter. A team without an impressive Peter...is no team at all. Donations towards getting Peter? Court |

I'm sorry to say that a donation from me is out of the question at this point, due to every dollar I have is going toward getting ME there along with the bike. I will say though that having Peter there will be a blessing (who'll do my welding) So all I can say to Peter is: Please, Please, Please. Ray |

Ray...dude...can we talk? No need for ANY apology. The ESSENCE of a TEAM is leveraging the ebb and flow of talent among the various members at different times. The way a TEAM works is that those who can do certain things at certain times do. You'll recall that from day one all ELVES were equal in stature w/o regard to the level of monetary participation. In fact, we limited the amount we'd accept and each and every person (Buell included) observed those limits. Money is easy to come by, talent and friends are tough. Trust me, I know the players and we'll have no problem AS A TEAM laying Peter's lame excuses to rest. He'll be there. Now, your assignment (one of the first of the year)is to have RAY THERE. That, dear friend and fellow Elf, is what Buell has been about since the day the wood stove was first lit in the barn. Court |

Court, No worries, mate. It will take some sort of disaster beyond my control to keep me from the salt. I've already told the hospital that I'll be gone during that time NO MATER WHAT. BTW, Should we not be sending in our pre-registrations even though the fees transfer from last years event. I'm still planning to do so before July 15th. Also I'm bringing an open trailer this year so won't be able to carry quite as much stuff as last year. If the elves need something let me know so I can make room. What about shirts and such, are we using last years uniform or is new in the works, if we are using last years I'll still need to get one for my "pitcrew". Just wondering about the plans. Ray

"I will say though that having Peter there will be a blessing So all I can say to Peter is: Please, Please, Please." All I can say is You yanks must have short memories. Q:How long does it take for a monkey to wire a trailer.??? Ans: Half the time it takes Pete. That said I am in for $100.00 email me how and where you want it sent.

Looks like I've got my duck's lined up to go again. Whilst I really appreciate the gesture, it just doesn't sit well for me to use your money to get there. It will be tight, but that's only because I'm buying a new house, not because I'm broke. So thanks again. I'll be there, (baring the unforseen), but under my own steam.

As long as no one puts a torch to a 55 gallon drum Aaron used to store race gas this year, I'm happy. Glad you can make it Peter - the more qualified people around the less chance someone will ask me to do something I can mess up |

I don't think I'll be able to make it this year. If I do it will be very much a last minute thing but I'm sure you'll all survive without me. If I do make it some of you will be pleased to hear I gave up smoking refers, except on the odd occasion of course but they are few and far between! Rocket |

Phillyblast, Will you be riding again this year? Or will you trailer the bike? If I can come up with the money for tires and insurance, I am thinking of visiting relitives in PA and then heading west. If your riding, maby we could meet up. I will know more in a week or two. SteveP |

Steve, Yes, no, maybe. The plan this year will most likely involve flying, with a distinct possibility of renting/borrowing a motorhome and trailering the bike with it. Wendover is 2300 miles, so figure 3 days on the bike, and add in limited vacation time and a fiance on the back . . .yes that's right, it's not a solo trip this year and you get the picture - the longest ride Jenn's ever done on the back of the S2 is a couple of hours. Keep me posted - I'm looking to solidify my plans in the next few weeks and I'm keeping an open mind. David |

I'll probably be flying in as well due to a vacation time shortage. |

If I do make it some of you will be pleased to hear I gave up smoking refers, except on the odd occasion of course but they are few and far between! Gave up smoking what? Refer? Must be some Limey thing that makes you howl at the moon all night. Over here we use alcohol for that. (You probably just need an occasional joint to keep you from getting too excited.) Once again, the Gods seem to be conspiring with the "Too Much Fun" police to thwart my plans. The "damned truck" took a little hit from Mother Nature whilst I was at sea for a week on a little delivery gig. A friend has suggested that I just whack the cab off with a Saws-all, stick the S1W in the back, don my skid-lid, and press on to Bonneville. The ex is currently engaged to a nice (wealthy) gentleman she met last week, but hell, it's five weeks until I'd have to start driving. Plenty of time for more sudden developments. Oh, yeah, and the funds for this little trip were to be generated by my services driving a buddy's boat during the 10-week shark season. However, during a quick shake-down run two days before the season opened on July 1st, she filled up with water (as in sinking), flooded the crankcase with salt water, seized a piston, and jerked a liner out of the block of the 12-liter Volvo diesel. Now it's just a pile of used parts, block not included. (That's a story I don't want to tell. It was eminently preventable. But at least it's all on the owner.) So now, 28 days into the season, a new engine is scheduled to arrive in three days, with at least another week to get it installed. Maybe I'll get a month's fishing in, but my share to date has already been caught, iced, landed, and shipped by those other guys out there. Down to the wire, aye Sean? (See ya in Bendover.) Capt. Pete
