My brother wrecked his 1125cr, he is not hurt. We don't want to turn it into insurance because they will jack up our rates more then the bike is worth. We am thinking about parting it out. The engine runs well, the main damage occurred on the top of the bike, the tach, seat, are messed up pretty bad, but the engine, tranny, swingarm, brakes, and wheels are in good shape. My question is, How much could i get for the parts? How much does an engine and tranny go for, the bike has less then 2000 miles on it.Is it realistic to get $3000-4000 out of the it by parting it out? Here are some pictures of it:

I'd fix it... no need to kill it. |

Stick a frame puck on it, get some new plastics, and $500 later you are back on the road. Hell, I've done worse to my bikes. They aren't being made anymore, no need to reduce the population further. |

Swingarm, brakes, wheels, and engine...without a good frame I doubt you could get $3000. However, there are a bunch of little parts you could sell that might add up like tail light/undertail plastic, oil cooler, radiators, wiring harness, throttle bodies, rear shock (front forks bent?). |

I'd fix it too, or don't even worry about cosmetics and make it a track bike, but definitely no need to scrap it. |

I don't think we are going to fix it, my brother got a ticket going 90 mph, and if we have to claim this wreck with insurance, our rates will go up a lot. My brother will pay more then the bike is worth to insure it. What do you guys think the individual parts are worth, what does an engine go for? i was thinking i could get $1500-$2000 for the engine, and maybe $1000 for the tranny. The forks, brakes, wheels, swing arm are all in good shape. I was thinking i could get $3-4k for all of the parts, but you guys don't think that? What so you guys think the engine, tranny, wheels, forks, and brakes are worth? |

The wreck happened on palomar mountain, he lost it on a turn, the bike went off the road caught in the dirt and went down into a ditch, it rolled over a few times, my brother was fine. Me and my dad were behind him, we came around the corner and saw him standing by the side of the road with no bike in sight. The weirdest part was he just bought a race suit the day before he wrecked it, talk about being lucky. If we sold it in its current condition, how much do you think we would get for it? |

Id seriously give $3000 for it if I had the money laying around. They aren't worth much more than that used without damage, around $5k or so. You can still buy a brand new one for just over $6k if you look around. |

It might cost $1000 to replace everything that is scratched, but to replace the necessary parts and some paint $500 |

With the exception of my CR, I have never bought a bike that was in that good of condition. Fixing it is really, really not going to be that much work or money. There is no reason to get the insurance company involved as I am sure the deductible is more than the cost to fix it. Just pull off everything that's is broken, inventory all of it and start checking eBay. There isn't anything there that requires any mechanical knowledge. With a little creativity, you can put it back together for almost nothing. |

Shame... all of this over the insurance price. If insurance is that big of a deal, maybe he shouldn't be riding in the first place... just my thoughts. I'd hate to see a good machine get sliced up for no other reason than insurance. Best thing you could do is sell it as is to someone who has the money and responsibility to get her back on the road. |

Dktech, Post what you want for the bike in the classifieds. I think you'll have no problem selling it complete. Oh, and if you think you know what the engine and transmission are worth, why are you asking? |

Fix it - too easy to not do it. Geez, thats nothing, all the major parts are ok - with todays aftermarket, and flea bay - you should find everything you need. EZ |

DK112- How is the frame? If the frame is not bent I could do $2000. These bikes are going for $5800-$6999. So 3-4 grand is gonna be hard to get for it. I paid $6200 for my 09 CR OTD. Two questions, How long do you plan on sitting on a crashed bike, and How much are you really asking for the bike? |

I bought a 08 1125R with a salvaged title, with more damage than you have. It cost me less than $600 to fix it. I don't know where you are getting a grand. Your best bet would be to keep it and spend a few hundred to fix it.. or... Sell it as is. It would be better than parting it out. I bet you could easily get 3k for the bike as it sits right now. why go through the work of parting it out? those are my ideas. just suggestions. |
