Due to a manufacturing defect(broken piston ring) I had my motor replaced after 14 miles. Needless to say I did not get much time to get familiar with the bike before it was taken away and had it's guts replaced. Now for the questions(2009 1125CR): The new motor does not have a dip stick. It only has the cap part of the dip stick. Looks like it never had the dip stick portion. It does have a window in the side of the sump area of the motor. Is the window normal? How should I read it? On the side stand or straight up? Everybody is saying just put in 3qts for an oil change, but I did mine yesterday and 2.7 shows at the top mark of the window. But that was after filling it up and on the side stand. I bought a new exhaust system for it. Went to install it and the slip on will not line up with the header pipes. Not just by a little but by about the width of the header pipe. Was there some differences in header pipes on these bikes? Differences between the R and CR models? I'm assuming they used the original header pipes and exhaust with the new motor. Thanks, Jim |

Sounds like you got a 2010 engine, the oil sight glass was a new feature! I'm jealous! I can't give advice on oil capacity with the 2010 engine but you should get your hands on the newest owner's manual (2010); should be on the buell website. Can't help with the exhaust either. |

The typical measurement across the headers is about 4" or just a bit more. They will flex some, but not more than maybe 1/2" or so. Which exhaust did you buy? Pretty much every aftermarket system do not use the factory crush gaskets to slip over the headers. They're all a very tight fit, at most you might need a small dab of hi-temp RTV silicone to seal it. (Message edited by d_adams on March 19, 2010) |

Here is the correct check procedure, right out of the 2010 owners manual: https://www.buell.com/om/99480-10Y_en/file-6.asp#h dtopic009152 |

2010 motor, must be nice, that sight glass would be nice to have, in my opinion. Not sure on the proper oil check procedure. Not sure on the exhaust, I have read people having install issues with the HR1 1125 slip on, but I don't know the exact details. Something about the HR1 being built off of the the early 2008 header design, and that design is different than the current, Not 100% sure though. Sorry not much help! Froggy has you covered on the oil check procedure. |

Wow that is different. Looks like it is a 2010 motor. I'll have to go back and add some oil since the specs say 3.3Qts on this version. Still don't know what is up with the exhaust. It is too far off to manipulate the header pipes and get it to fit. They are the right distance apart, just not in the right place for where the mounting points are suppose to be. The front mounting point hits the motor before it will slip on. If you put the rear bolts in loose to hold up the rear it will not allow the pipes to line up at all. I cannot force it to turn that far without it hitting the bottom of the motor. I'll contact the vendor. |

Yep wish I had a sight glass, can you take a pic of your side of the engine see where those pipes come out? (Message edited by averagejoe on March 19, 2010) |

The headers are different on the 2010s. |

Yes, photos of the sight glass would be good. It looks like there are two pipes coming out of each head. I think it would look cool to have four pipes coming out the back of the bike....Just for looks. I know one or two collectors give more power. |

New exhaust offset. This is with both rear bolts inserted loose. I cannot push the muffler pipes over anymore.

What exhaust did you buy? Those look like they should fit, install the collector first, then the muffler.

Here is a pic of a measurement off the side of the oil cooler across the header clamps. If somebody can take the same measurement off an 09 Cr that would be great. thanks, Jim

If I take the bolts out holding the rear up I can just almost line up the headers, but the exhaust hanger bracket hits the motor where the front mount bolt goes. I've played with this for a while trying to line things up. |

Any chance of a pic of this bracket that is hitting? I can only think of one or two aftermarket pipes that even has a bracket on the front and I can't imagine it being off very far. |
