When I took my CR in for the harness work I mentioned the domestic dischord that the weeping gas was causing. The dealer said they would call it in to see if it would be covered. Sure as snuff it was. I'm there now waiting for the cali can to be installed. Pleasantly surprised that it is a free service as I was fully prepared to shell out the cost and possible scraped knuckles for the part. For those of you with S.O.'s who aren't as into the smell of gas as you are, try to ask about it when/if you take it in for the harness or other service. Lookin' forward to being able to take off the passenger pegs and shaving off some pounds (swimsuit season is right around the corner  ) | ||

Damn, ohh well already did mine. I would have had to put my passenger pegs back on, or they wouldnt have done anything. But great info thanks, sure it will help others. | ||

Thanks for the heads up on that. I'm going to the dealer tonight and will ask about that to see if they can do it while it's in there for the harness. | ||

Cali can was installed and just the faintest whiff of gas is present in the garage after a brief spirited run and about 3/4 of a tank simmering away. Only issue is that after the harness fix my CEL is lit for about 5 seconds after firing Ursula up then it goes away, should have mentioned it to the tech this morning when I brought it in. Anyone else having similar CEL issues after the harness recall? | ||

I'm going to install that combo. I ran a line in my garage that I plug the bike into so that it can vent and drip outside. But the track I'm looking to take the bike to won't let me ride with any drips, especially fuel. Mike | ||

It sounds like you got a historical code. This is probably the result of the dealer updating your ECM, but not clearing the codes afterwards. If you go into diagnostic mode you can see the codes. Your dealer can clear them or you can use ECMspy.

Well, a more realistic concern about the CA canister is that it's essentially an unmetered, more or less random fuel leak into the intake system on only one cylinder. Given how much fuel seems to come out of the vent, there would be a non-trivial amount of fuel going back into one cylinder under vacuum. If the ECU is learning at light cruise what the fuel needs are (with a leak into one cylinder), it will likely lean that cylinder out a bit, and then extrapolate this out to WOT - where there won't be a significant intake vacuum, and the canister won't be venting. I don't know if this is actually an issue or not, but I'd be interested in hearing if people who have installed the canister noticed an AFV correction after installing it - if so, there's a very real chance that the fueling is becoming slightly unbalanced. I'd like to install it, because I'm not a fan of my garage stinking, but I'm a bit worried about unbalanced fueling. Thoughts? Worrying about nothing? | ||

Froggy: The weight won't change your top speed unless it sticks out in the air stream and adds aerodynamic drag. What it WILL do is increase your 1/4 miles times by about 0.004 seconds though. | ||
