Thats Merriman's first evolution from stock Blast, his final look is in the same section with the crossroad goodies and Force intake. Those rearsets are adapted from a set of Banke rearsets for an s-1 if I remember correctly - His early stuff was very custom and then for some strange reason he went to pre fabs. I personally thought his custom set much better than the Crossroads set he settled on. And the SupperTrapp 3" chrome uni very cool (though I like black;0)). Raven you have a lot of different choices - yet if working well and inexpensive is the requirement then go to super bike bars - pretty much perfect for everything but the most dedicated corner carving - aka track days, etc. Got thump?! Thanks EZ, I like the way those rearsets look and set up. I think that set up would work great for thos of us with longer legs. They also seem to set high enough up so you wouldn't have to worry about scraping the gearshift or pegs at all. That is if you intend on leaning hard into a nice little turn. |

Ez,I think that I might just build my own. I want my hands at about the same hight as the triple tree, with no rise. I have a feeling I'm going to be making a lot of my own parts. Oh, well. Maybe I'm just too picky (and cheep) for my own good. |

Okay - then you want drag bars - inexpensive and you can get them in multiple colors, inc. CF, etc also they're not much and you can get them anyplace - cool about making your own stuff - custom always stands out - one way or the other;0) - seriously nothing but good luck on your fabrications- lol - got Thump?! Drag bars have tank clearance problems unless the center section is really wide!Thats why I went to the Laverda's,I basically wanted drag bars that would clear!!I think custom bending is the next step! |

Erik, that's pretty much what I was planning on doing, myself. I was thinking of taking a set of superbike bars, mounting them backwards and rotated forward, with a bend to the ends so that hand position is correct. We'll see how it works. |

I've started experimenting on handlebars. A friend gave me a set of somewhat beat up clubmen bars. I annealed the stress zones (where I would be doing the bends) then bent the ends up even with the crosspiece. They now look like a funky "w". I don't have clearance problems if I mount the bars rotated back towards me, about 20-30 degrees from vertical. We'll see if it works out. I feel the pull of the Dark Side...Can't resist...Must do more mods... |

Yea - its kind of funny when your in the middle of a project - you always want to get it done so you can go ridding, but then you have to remind yourself to slow down and do it right because you then want to go riding - a little catch 22! Definately Dark side on those feelings! Still debating between the Laverda and the profi Telix clip-ons with 2 1 1/4 risers on each side - they have them all black now, and my other set have polished bars and 2 5/8 risers on each side - basically half superbike height Got Thump?! Ok, did more fiddling with the clubmen bars, today. I now have plenty of clearance with them at normal position (horizontal). I'll ride with these for a while, and if I like them, I'll get a new set of Bikemasters, and do it again so that I can have some nice looking bars. Now I've got to get working on my carbon fiber fairing. Have to decide if I want a full fairing, or not. Decisions, decisions, decisions... |

Last night I installed a set of Crossroads engine mounted rearsets on my buddy's Blast. Uh.... * No instructions * Parts sheet / diagram was inaccurate and illegible * No brackets or info to relocate master cylinder resirvoir * No brackets or info to relocate oil / puke drains I can't believe they want $550 for that. It's totally out of line for a kit that's not quite finished - and DOESN'T TELL YOU on the package that it's not quite finished. The most troubling aspect of it occured to me after I installed the shift side footpeg bracket on the bike. The diagram showd 3 identical spacers being used. However, the rear / middle spacer needed to be longer. There was one in the kit - but the diagram showed all 3 being identical (I think #7). Odd that there's a spare spacer after all is assembled. I'm not saying that installation was difficult. It wasn't. There just has to be more with the kit! Something on the outside of the package indicating what's needed to complete the kit would be nice. (correct) Instructions would be nice. A (correct) diagram that's not multiple crappy photocopy generations old would be nice. In fact, those things wouldn't just be nice. I feel it's unacceptable to sell this $550 kit without those. Now, I just got off the phone with Crossroads. I think I was speaking with a cat named Brandon. Nice guy who was interested in listening to my feedback. The impression I got was that those rearsets were released under some amount of consumer pressure. Very high demand. I guess they were in a rush to put the thing out there and didn't quite get down to putting some finishing touches on the thing. He said he appreciated my feedback and made note of it. -Saro |

Just got the Banke rearsets monday. Took about a hour to put them on. I like them so far. Need to get a stander seat for my blast now ( I've got the low seat ). I'm 5'11" and things are starting to get alittle tight now. Banke said he could raise the pegs and controls alittle over an inch, plus he is coming out with a custom brake lever for the Blast. |

Anyone know of a comfortable open-ended grip for our bike? I now use Vortex clipons and with the vibration going through those ultra lightweight aluminum bars my hands go completely numb after an hour of riding. It's quite painful... thanks in advance, KYUSS |

Try some good bar end weights to help absorb vibration and get some heavy gell grips and cut the ends off - its what I did - in fact I did that to the Buell traction grips - very comfy - lol - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

I'm really attached to my barend mirrors. I like the way they're hidden from my line of sight. But I'll check out the heavy gell grips. |

If you move your controlls in just a bit and clip the barends to the bar ends (not using the plug into the bar adapters) you should then be able to use the end weights as well. As I use my bar end signals and mirrors in combonation! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

I don't think that'll work or I'm not fully understanding. My mirrors twist into the barend with a rubber cork that expands when twisted tighter. Funny thought but what about a roll of dimes or whatever that would fit snug? Would be convenient for tolls too - LOL |

Well there are two types of barend mirrors - one type plugs into the end of the bar - your type - and then there is the type that clamp onto the end of the bar itself - my type - lol - off roaders use some stuff you pore into the bars to absorb vibration but with clip-ons I don't think that is an option - heavy gell grips and gloves w/gell padding would work and those you can find most anywhere. Good luck! Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ |

roger that. OURY ROAD GRIPS say they are made specifically to defend against vibration. got too much thump? |

Why does the Buell website claim that the traction hand grips will not work on the Blast? I was looking at the XB9's at the dealer and the stock XB9 grips look the same as the stock Blast grips. |

I thought that someone was running them on a Blast. They are probably shorter or longer than the stock grips, and that's why they are not listed as fitting. James |

I'm using them on my Blast. Good thing I didn't know that they wouldn't fit, huh? p.s. They're very comfy. |

Hi all... Longtime lurker, first time poster. I just got a Blast, am about to embark on the long journey of upgrading it (the dark side whispers LOUDLY!)lol... I have a question for those of you who have the Crossroads bars on post-2000 Blasts. I read in the archives about having to drill bars for the plastic nubs, and was wondering whether the Crossroads bars come pre-drilled (since they're made for the Blast). Just wondering, since I don't really have access to a drill press. Thanks! |

Don't know if they are pre-drilled.(only need a hand elect.drill).However, I was really big on doing it as factory did & drilled my first set, only to find out installing my second set that the nubs had sheered off anyway!!Duct tape under the switch case working just fine!! (& Yes, its time to come over to the Dark side!) GearheadErikO |

Ah.. cool. Much easier that way. Thanks! So, how much duct tape do you need? One turn, or build up the bar a bit? (You can probably tell I'm pretty new at all this.. lol) |
