Mike, I found on my '02 M2 that with my more free flowing exhaust and a 7"x9" oval K&N air cleaner the race ECM really brought my engine alive and added a good amount of performance to my bike. Also as you suggested I rejetted my carb to a #48 idle jet 1 1/2 turns out, a #195 main and shimmed the stock jet needle up .060 for the mid-range. I also put a little lighter diaphragm spring in the stock 40mm vacuum carb for quicker response. My engine pulled cleanly and strong from just off idle to the redline of 6700 with the race unit. I used stock but clipped NGK medium range plugs. Just once in a while something really does work as in that case.

Also have you tried the newer metal laminated primary gasket. It cured any oil drips I had there except for one at the rear of the engine from a gasket leak from the starter bolts being loose but about 1 1/2 turns. Cured that. I then would check them once a year. Drip free from then on. Time to ride............soon. Bob

Bob, thanks you and yes, I've got the new primary gasket. Seems that all the leaking is coming from the new fittings. I think the hose is slightly off in size and not sealing. Looks like I'll have to go to the dealership as the stuff I got at Evco isn't working out.

So my wife had a conference in St George this last weekend... dropped down to Vegas to visit an old friend and look at an XB.

I'll post pics in a bit, 07 STT originally purchased 03/23/09. I'll be the third owner on this bike. I'm hoping to find a low seat so my wife can drive it too, she took the rider course a couple summers ago.
It's all stock, and will stay that way except heated grips and maybe a different airbox cover. I'm not sure if I can get the muffler powder coated since it's got that valve in it, but I don't want the thing rusting up like they all seem to.

Brandon, have you got any advice there?

Thanks

Yes, I do.... After you buy it, give it to me. That way you'll never have to worry about it rusting. My lightning doesn't have enough time on the clock to worry about rusting. The firebolt has the Carbon Fiber can. It's kinda half-ass, but perhaps powder coat everything, except for the small area around the valve. I don't have any good advice or ideas, sorry.

Hmm, isn't two Buells enough? I'm already wondering about selling the cyclone I said I'd never sell.

I suppose once I've got the muffler off I'll be able to inspect it and go from there. Might just scrub it with degreaser then put a couple coats of high temp black on it, depends on if I get the red passenger peg brackets I'm bidding on right now... who pc's passenger peg brackets red?!?!

Missed the Sunday riding but rode to work Monday night and rode to meetings with the long way home on Tuesday.

I'm hoping I ran the XB long enough for the fuel injection to sort itself out. It was popping and surging Monday night, seemed okay Tuesday when it had done a lap of the west half of the valley. Warm hands to go with my e-vest sure is nice!

Here it is before we left Vegas last Monday

Very nice new XB Mike. You seem to be well ready for the summer riding. It looks, from the picture, to be near new and completely stock yet which makes it a real good buy. Does it seem much different from your M2? Should be a great year!

Went to the SLC VA today in the car and what a great day for riding. Home now but still have to get license for mine. What a day to miss. The Buellcati's ready. Bob

Bob, it's a completely different bike than the M2. I know M2's are supposed to be the most sedate of the bunch but this bike feels bland in comparison. It's very smooth and predictable.

I've run to run it through any serious curves though so I know I'll love the suspension when I do that. I like the exhaust valve thingy too, it jumps over 4k rpm riding around town.

Once I finsh with the grips on the M2 (yeah, I'm still farting around with that). and put a functional horn on it I'll pull the muffler off the TT for powder coat with those passenger peg brackets. I just need mounting hardware and a two up seat and I can leave it alone.

Canyon Chasers have a great tutorial on wiring in heated grips and a distribution block for accessories. Wish I'd read that before I glued my left grip back on the M2, with the Crossroads bars (aluminum) it seems I'll need to remove the grip and element and insulate the bar so I don't loose all my heat into it. Oh well.

Spring is coming!

Not me Brandon, but no matter I can't ride anyways until I get my state license sticker. Getting anxious too, to try out the EBR race ECM some more. First impressions were gratifying. Soon I hope.

Ordered a new belt, battery, and Pirelli's new Angel tire. I will finally have both bikes back on the road. Has anybody heard much about the new angel? Hoping it's truly as soft as the Diablo and as durable as the Strada. We'll see I suppose. I think the little design on the outer most layer is kinda cheesy, but other than that it sounds promising.

Brandon, where did you order your stuff from? I have been thinking about a new rear soon and was going with a Pirelli Rosso but you have sparked my interest in the Angel's. At a similar price and good reviews so far they look good. I had Conti's Road Attack's on my M2 and they were real good, and cheap. They wore like iron , had fast warmup and a little faster turn in.

Also I'll be riding Tuesday afternoon with the nice temps. and thinking about Sunday if the weather holds. You up for either? Anybody else, and where's Kerri?

I ordered the tire from http://www.jcmotors.com/csearch.aspx?Search=186850 0 . I've never placed an order with them before, so I have no clue what to expect. The tire was on sale for $143.00 The battery and belt from Al and Joanne at American Sportbike. What time were you thinking of heading out tomorrow? I'll let you know about Sunday as the week progresses. And Mike, I like the STT.

Good price on the tire Brandon and Al & Joanne are the best.

Thinking about going around 1:00 or 2:00 but I'm free anytime. Just trying to beat some of the traffic later. Let me know what fits with you. I thought just a spin around Pineview and some coffee at the Sinclair station.

Jeff, welcome aboard. Nice stable of bikes you have there. We're just getting this Utah forum going again after a bit of a break over the last few years. So far it looks like just a few of us but a few new guys like you and Kerry are posting also.

Brandon, Littlebuggles and I got things going again and we usually post here for any upcoming rides.

I went yesterday for a short spin and we all missed a great one today. As you might have seen by my profile, I'm the old guy and retired so I ride some during the week. No I do NOT hold up traffic. LOL

Many times during the season the north side guys meet at the Sinclair in Mountain Green on Sunday for longer rides. We usually discuss rides here and set times, etc.

Let us know your schedule and when you can get away. We all ride when we can........anytime. Hope to see you this year. Stay safe, Bob

Fellaz,

Finally found some time today give the SV some much needed love. All I really need to do to get her ready is some new fluids, a chain cleansing and registration.
Hope to be riding with you guys soon!

Howdy Michael, welcome. Those SV's sure are fun bikes.

Brandon, thanks for the compliment. You said you'll have both bikes on the road, did the shop finally get your fueling right?

The STT is running pretty rough around 3K rpm's. I pulled the plugs and they looked fine so I brushed them off with a brass brush and reinstalled with some anti-sieze but it hasn't done a thing for it. Idle is a little erratic once warmed up, bike's only got 4,100 miles on it. Can any of you guys do a TPS reset? I haven't got a laptop or I'd get the software and build a cable. I'm wondering if HD of SL will do it for me, they said they can't do any warranty repairs which this would seem to be covered under?

Utah Buellers, it is great to see some activity in this thread. I wanted to pass some info to you all. The New Mexico group in partnership with the Colorado group will have a Buell gathering in Red River NM this Aug. We usually get together once a year and last year was in Gateway Colorado near Moab. This year it will be a little out of the way from the great state of Utah but if you want to do a road trip and join us your are more than welcome to do so.

I will post more information in this thread if there is any interest. You can also check the NM or Colorado Buell Rider (CBR) thread in the Storm Fronts for more information once the planning for this event is finalized. (I do not think there is much information, if any, right now but there will be as we get closer to the event)

I have the cable and software for ecmspy. The early '08 models can be manipulated with that program. The later models just require a sequence using the throttle and kill switch.

Thanks much for the invite Frank. That would be a nice get together.

For us here; the weather looks nice enough this coming Sunday for a spring tuneup, get to know each other, warmup ride. Meet at the Farmer Market Sinclair in Mountain Green about 1:00 PM, a ride around Pineview and a stop back at the gas station for warmup coffee. I'm ready, anyone else up for that? Lets ride! Bob

I hope to be ready for a ride Sunday. I've got a few more things to do on the bike to get it ready. Weather does look decent with a high around 60. Probably a few degrees cooler up in the valley. Sounds like fun!

I'd like to come up for a ride and maybe see if Brandon can help me zero out the tps, I am working Sat and Sun nights so I'm just a maybe.

I'll be off and (hopefully) able to ride early afternoons Wed-Fri this week, so let me know if you are going out.

Thanks Frank, will watch the other threads you suggested as the time approaches.

Brandon, if you are headed this way that would be really cool, I'm working a 12hr shift shift and won't be off 'til 10am (if my relief is on time).

Should be home around 10:30 if it goes well, you'd be quite welcome to come by any time after that. It's supposed to be 50 for a high, but the overnight is only forcast for 28 so I won't be riding to work. I wonder what the temps will be in the canyons? Maybe go for a spin to see if it does the trick.

Have you still got my number?

I started tearing into my "spare" bike again, it's got some old issues I've put off since it was the only bike, I'm looking forward to having it back to 100%.

Brandon and Mike, it really looks like our little group and "helping each other out", is really working here since we really do not have much if any dealer support. Thanks guys. I hope that continues and I will do what I can also. Hope you guys can make it Sunday, it should be nice. How about you new guys, Kerri and Jeff? Stay safe all, Bob
