Today, on my way to the blood bank to drop off a load of platelets, I got confused and took a "short cut" through a parking lot. I got lost. But I had a blast doing it. This was a big parking lot and the business that it was built for was long out of business. I guess, in an attempt to slow traffic and generally confuse feeble0minded cagers, the parking lot was a maze of barriers and islands. Perfect. Since the Buell doesn't like typical parking lot speeds, I offered it a little throttle in hopes of lifting its spirits. Again, I had a blast. Winding through the obstacle course at speeds not normally possible in a parking lot, I found myself doing a reasonable supermoto impersonation. Sliding the rear. Torquing out of corners. While the 1125CR feels like a "real" bike, it gave me some of the same playfulness that you typically only get from toy bikes. Certainly not a motor to take lightly, once you "get it" the thing is like a good friend. I had a blast. And I love this bike. There are the downer stories of people with problems but I tend to take two views on the things I see: it is either a problem with a dealer which can happen any time you buy anything (let me tell you about my experience with buying my Challenger) or it is a project - something to do in the garage on a Saturday. Absolutely no point to this topic except to announce that after decades I have found my bike. Because of a parking lot. And getting lost. |

I love my 1125r more than any bike I've ever owned. I can't get off of it. And truth be told I love my dealership too (Latus HD) I have recently been thinking about moving to Norfolk, VA and my main concern is having to find a good dealership. |

Mooch, Try Hampton Roads H-D. www.hrhd.com . Decent people to deal with. Bought a bike from them years ago. |

personally I'd go with Southside, if you are going to live in Norfolk. |

What happened to Battletrax? Of course, I know the Buell sponsored series is long gone but the guy who runs it did a lot of others. However, I can't find anything on any happening since 2006 |

IIRC, it wasn't profitable. He decided to do something he could make a living at and stopped doing battletrax. I don't blame him. I sure had fun that day though. |

I read a post by the guy at another forum I visit that was posted in 2006. At that point, he said he needed to start charging people $5-$7 and he felt bad about it. IMO, he could charge a fair bit more and still get a lot of people out there. |

Alright, I got the info straight from the horses mouth (although sort of second-hand):

Then there's this one.... I spent time working with a Harley District Manager in Ohio setting up a series. She and a couple of dealers promptly hi-jacked and cut me out. Predictably, the series failed. It is not quite as esay as it seems to stage one of these. I would love to do this again, but with nobody having two nickles to rub together... t'ain't gonna happen

I set-up and ran BattleTrax events here in Pa from 2002 to 2005. I miss it too! The picture of me on the Uly above is from the HD York Open House in 2005, my last event. |
