Placed an order for the 09 1125R in late 08, and took delivery in December 08. Cost was A$19,000 'on road', which includes rego, taxes, prep. Conservatively I've spent another A$8,000 making it into the bike it should've been, and on scheduled services, tyres, spares. My progress is well-documented on these pages. At 19,000 km, before Harley pulled the pin on Buell, the dealer offered me A$10,000 trade; as did more than one private buyer. By Christmas the 1125R was retailing for A$9,000 on road, thanks to Harley's program of heavy discounting. So when, at 29,000 km the charging system failed AGAIN, and being quoted 6 weeks leadtime for parts AGAIN, I wanted to trade it in on something more reliable with neither the Buell or Harley names on it. The dealer offered me A$4,000 because they had been retailing at $9,000 new. I would've taken it except they didn't want the spares; and a local private buyer paid a total of A$7,000 for the lot (bike with Power Commander and spares). Conservatively, I lost A$20,000 on the Buell, thanks to Erik's mismanagement of the Buell franchise and Harley's discounting of 'the lost boys'. I replaced it with this: http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/suzu/suzuki _gsxr1300r%2008.htm I didn't ride it before buying it, nor did I ask if it had a petrol gauge -- turns out it does. Came with Power Commander and twin Yoshis and delimited in every gear; dyno says 180+ hp, 90+ tq., though the fine tuning is not yet done (there now). Thank God I could rely on at least ONE bike maker to know how to design, build and market a motorcycle; without me having to second guess him before buying. Caveat emptor, Buellers. And 'adios, mfs!" |

Good luck. If you have to blame someone, don't blame Erik Buell for what happened. Blame Harley-Davidson. |

You seem like a real smart guy, but I could have sold you a 08 ZX14 with only 2000 miles, who does km's? which would have smoked that busa, for probably less than what you paid for. From the sound of it I bet the divorce was the other way around. Happy riding and AMF to you too.... |

Jasbiz66, You do realize Redscuell lives in Australia, right? Thus km instead of miles. |

Nobody should ever buy a bike for resale, especially when its been modded. I dont keep track of how much I spend fourwheeling and not on motorcycling. I am certain that I have spent far more than 30 grand on my fourwheeling hobby. If I did keep track it would take the fun out of it. I dont want to know. I know that Im having the time of my life today. Its just money, you cant take it with you. |

Your certainly one bitter little fellow aren't you? Blaming your personal misfortunes & grudges on the man himself? Red - honestly; this has been your most ridiculous post yet. Godspeed and good ridance! PS. Something tells me you'll be utilizing about 25hp of the 180 available. But for bragging rights - I guess your fat dumb and happy - keep it up - past posts have shown your showing no signs of stopping. |

I'm thinking that my buy in on a 08 for 6k with optional fairing included was a bargain. Some win some lose, but hay if your still riding than thats what counts and f-the wife. |

I'm kind of surprised you went from an 1125R to a Hayabusa. If you want more straight-line speed or long-distance comfort, the Busa is the way to go, but it's certainly not nearly the corner carver the 1125R is. I can't fault Suzukis for reliability, having owned, um, four of them. But something like the GSX-R1000 would have been a more-comparable replacement to the 1125R. Hope you enjoy it, though! |

Congrats on the new bike, We all search for the perfect fit for our particular needs. I have a '97 S3 that fulfills the nostalgic side, an 1125R to go fast and a BMW GS as a do everything machine. Unless your bike is your only form of transportation, motorcycling is not an investment, it's a hobby. Chris (Message edited by Christaylor on March 15, 2010) |

Let's not forget that there are a lot of people without jobs having a hard time putting food on the table for their families. The fact that even with a loss on the 1125, you were still able to buy another bike, seems pretty lucky if you ask me. |

Sorry to hear you have dumped the 1125R, wives can always be replaced, but did you lose more on the bike or the divorce? |

If you are looking for blame, don't blame Harley or Buell. Blame yourself for sinking 27 large into it. That being said, whatever bike makes you happy is the one for you. Here's to hoping that the Busa is that bike. |

Erik's mismanagement of the Buell franchise I don't believe that was the case. |

Complaining about losing money on a heavily modified bike - what were ya thinking? I KNOW I lose money on a bike the minute it leaves the dealership, but that's not the point of me buying it in the first place - Eric obviously had it in for you and made his best effort to screw you over - that's too bad. Good luck on the Busa. |

I bought a CR on the fire sale HD had, but I feel your pain. A friend of mine is in the same boat you were. I got my CR for half what he paid the year before for his R. Don't blame Erik. HD pulled the plug on him and HD is the one who offered the "get them off the floor" deals. As for the Suzuki... nice ride. |
