Just rec'd my (one map) Race ECM from EB Racing. Question: What does it do besides re-map the fuell starvation issues? Does it raise the rev limiter too? Change the ignition timing? Do I need to do a TPS (throttle thingy) reset too? This is my first FI bike so I'm on new ground here. '09XT red of course. Thanks, -P (Message edited by pauley2000 on February 22, 2010) |

You didn't research this or ask EBR these questions before you bought it? |

Silly me. The price is worth the fuell remap alone. -p |

Email EBR, I'm sure they'll be happy to answer your questions. |

And yes, you'll need a TPS reset when you install it. |

I assume the race ECM does away with the valve in the muffler, as well? Curious minds want to know. I'd also like to hear how it runs after the install. |

The EBR 2008-2009 race ECM still controls the interactive valve......... |

Bikelit: If the valve is still there. Ratbuell: Thanks on the TPS reset. I will also assume that anytime I take it near a dealer to swap the stock back in too so the Race doesn't get over written??? Portero72: you'll have to wait a couple months, I live in the Great White North. Also it will be interesting to see what the fan logic is...Mmmmmm anyone know? Time to e-mail EBR -p |

Revin' the crap out of it in the shed tells me squat. No one's gonna have to have more patience than me here. New Pirelli Angels on it too. Barely scuffed in. I figure for about the cost of a two needle jet kit, (what I told the Wife) this may work. -p |

Also it will be interesting to see what the fan logic is...Mmmmmm anyone know? After warm, the fan runs above 15mph. It's never ran after shut down........ |

I thought the 08 and up XBs did away with the TPS reset. Does the EBR race ECM change that? |

Anyone can buy it. It's for race use. Be aware you are buying race parts. |

Subject: Race ECM questions Answers from EBRacing.. I have an 09 XB12X Uly w/a K&N Air filter and a Drummer exhaust and have some questions? 1.Do you have to have a special license to buy a race ecm? EBR--You do not need a race license to buy the ECM. It is for race track use only, but we know many customers do track days and riders' schools at tracks without licenses. 2. Can I just unplug my old ecm and plug the race ecm in and ride? EBR--Yes. 3. Does the fan come on after shutdown? EBR--The fan running strategy is altered from the original, and does run to a different schedule. 4. What is it going to do for performance? EBR--It will help performance with the Drummer. Basically performance is a function of the exhaust, not the ECM, but the correct fueling for the race exhaust will add mid range power and keep the engine from being too lean at full throttle. Hope this helps some people....Tim(Idaho Buelly) |

Interactive valve moves through the 'warm up swing' at key turn with race ECM. Yes. Sounds a little surlier at idle now. -p |

Just rode my 08 uly with the new race ecm, bike runs great! I also have a open air box, open crankcase breathers and my own magnaflow muffler. Bike pulls had from 3500 to redline and also pulls away from stop light much better. Worth the $250.00 Much less decell popping as well. |

Spectra, Do you have the stock exhaust? It truly may be worth the money if you get some benefit even without other performance mods. Do you know if it has the same learning capabilities as the stock ECM; i.e. will it make adjustments on it's own as you make other changes & mods? |

Hangetsu, It may work well with stock exhaust and a open air box. I would e-mail EBR, they could say for sure. |

I have a 2006 XB12X I purchased the original race ECM, and removed the exhaust servo. Then eventually upgraded to a Drummer. Bike runs great, never threw a code when I uninstalled the servo. Open air box and she flies, excellent throttle response, pulls hard all the way through the gears. |

Just a quick question how is the idle when you first start it with the race ECM ? Rough or same as stock till it warms up. |

If your idle is rough stock, there is something wrong. |
