just got a letter in the mail from buell offering a new and improved charging system which is suppost to improve low rpm charging. and offers it at no cost. the offer goes for all 09 2010 r and cr built prior to sept 24th, 2009. did anyone else get this letter | |||

Yeah, I know that 'it's normal' line from other dealers, but I haven't really heard it from the newest one I use. We'll see - I don't really subscribe to the notion of odd noises that begin for no apparent reason as normal, Buell or otherwise ... Call me crazy! | |||

that wouldn't happen to apply to any of the 08 Rs would it? Didnt get a letter but my dealer let me know when i had my tires installed on weds. they ordered the part for me and gonna call when its in. | |||

Can you post this letter ..... so I can copy and print it ..... I am having some doubts and any back up documentation would be helpful when I drop in to see the dealer. (early production 09 R) | |||

Funny thing is that I stopped in my dealer on Tuesday and asked about it. Was told 'if your's is affected, you'd have a letter by now'. Letter came yesterday - I always seem to be ahead of stuff... Anyway, tell me how to post it and I'd be glad to do so. In the meantime, AJ, PM sent. | |||

Zacks - if you have a scanner you could scanit as a jpg and attach it to a post here - I'd love a copy too as I'm not sure I'd get one otherwise. Failing that, take a decent quality photo of the letter with a good digital camera and post that  | |||

Interestingly the letter says my warranty expires Feb 2012 even though I bought my CR in Oct 2009} The Feb. 2012 expiration date is for the aforementioned harness only. It does not imply that your entire warranty is automatically extended. | |||

I recommend you re-read the letter. The program expires on Feb 15th 2012 not your warranty. | |||

Does anyone know exactly what this harness upgrade looks like/consist of? Is it a simple plug and play, or does half of my bike have to be taken apart? The implied meaning is that I don't trust my CR in my dealer's hands as far as I could throw their "chrome consultant". | |||

remove seat and left pod cover. disconnect reguator connector and active intake solenoid. connect relay harness to all disconnected connectors. run wire from reay harness under seat to ecm under left pod. verify ecm at latest flash. that is it in a nut shell | |||

Got my letter today, The funny thing is when i went to do the repair a few days ago the harness was all ready installed! Mine is one of the ordered bikes after the announcement. The sub harness is tagged Y0474.3AM for anyone else that has an ordered bike | |||

I called A.D. Farrow of Northstar in Ohio and they didn't seem retarded. They actually knew what I was talking about with the harness and they even knew what the flash was. I was impressed. They told me I might have to leave it a day or they might do it while I wait. I said that me waiting would be best, haha. We'll see how well it goes when they put it on. | |||

Dealer in Allen Tx signed me up, but had to order the harness. I'll get the 600 mile service done at the same time. (It's broken in now! Woo Hoo) |
