So today i was riding home from college, about 170miles. I had done this same trip last weekend with no problems, however this time ANY TIME i got below 4000rpm, the battery light IMMEDIATELY came on and as soon as I got above 4000rpm the light would go off. Keep in mind for the majority of the ride i was at a consistent 6000rpm so i KNOW that if the stator is working it would have been charging. The bike starts up and everything, but the battery light comes on and continues to stay on until i pass 4000rpm, whether the engine is under a load or not. Any ideas about this would be greatly appreciated. Im going to the dealer tomorrow, so we'll see...the bikes still under warranty anyway BTW- The bike is a 2008 R with a 2009 engine. Thanks Jake |

Did you double check the cables? I'm guessing either your battery's life is coming to an end, or possibly need to look into the new recall with the harness! http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/546223.html?1268444594 |

This new harness from what I can gather is only going to be installed to prevent overheating and destruction of the stator. It does not improve charging ability at all. So, what you are seeing may be the early stages of stator failure. I'd experienced some issues with the battery light coming on while riding as soon as rpm dropped to idle after riding for a long while above 5500 rpm. Now my bike has been at the dealer for 2 weeks waiting on a new stator and rotor because the heat destroyed them. Seems like you're on the same path. |

So after i posted the i went to the dealer and they checked everything, and the tech said, "well its not charging completely but you can still ride it without a problem. We'll order the recall parts today." (and they did) So I proceeded too and... After that i got a "low system voltage error" and i was about 30miles from home and was riding the piss out of it to get there becuase i was running late, so i check the voltage in diag mode and it was at 11.0V. So the first thing i think of is "CRAP (well the word i used was a bit more colorful lol) im not gonna be able to make it home, and someone's gonna have to come get me"....well i decided to try to make it home, and as soon as i pulled in the drive way, the damn thing just died...gauges went black and everything. It had just enough juice for me to turn the key and the gauges to come on, so i checked the voltage in diag again and within the course of 25-30mi. it had dropped from 11.0V to just over 8.0V.... So the dealer came and picked it up and that was almost a MONTH ago, and the parts STILL have NOT come in to do the freaking recall, AND chances are the stator IS bad and they havent even checked it from what i was told, becuase they're gonna "wait and see if the recall fixes it" and when/if that does NOT work im gonna have to wait probably ANOTHER MONTH for a @#$% stator!!! Does ANYBODY know if the recall part is backordered? This is freaking ridiculous, i mean my dealership has NEVER done me wrong before but COME ON, when you have to wait A MONTH for something that should have been there in a week..it just gets irritating HD needs to get off their FAT, CHROME, LEATHER TASSELED @$$ES and start helping us Buellers out!!! Sorry for the rant but ANY info on the recall or opinions on my problem would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanx Jake |
