Put just under 100 miles on it (bringing the total miles to *nearly 500* - wooHOO!). I figured with all the grumbling, my-bike-has-XYZ-problems posts....I'd put up a good one!

Stock 09 CR. Buell heated grips, '10 LED taillight, deleted passenger pegs and brackets, Buell touring seat (NO, it's not for sale!) and black '09 Uly pegs are the only mods.

65 degrees yesterday, mostly dry roads (mostly - the black bike is still filthy now)...had to do it. Finally getting the suspension dialed in, tire pressures 36/37 F/R, handling was nice and predictable, ride was firm but not beating my wrists into a pulp. It was a great ride, the bike performs flawlessly (the 152 flash has nary a hiccup in it - ANYwhere), she fired right up first crank, every time, and my fuel mileage keeps getting better and better. Running V shows as 13.8, despite my bike qualifying for the charging system update (which I'll get done "to be safe" at the 620 service).

This is going to be a good season : )

It's been sunny and mid- to upper-50s all week in MD!! Put on about 300 miles since Sunday : ) I'm not knowledgeable enough to "dial in" my suspension, but set to factory settings (for 260 lbs :o ) Ginger rides like butta'!

You're wrong though, this is going to be a great season!!

I had my initial ride of the year Tuesday. I had been suspicious of the throttle pull stiffness, so i pulled the airbox cover and discovered the IAC tube rubbing on the TB linkage arm. I guess it came from the factory like this? I wouldn't think the lower airbox would have been pulled off for the 620 mile service or before I bought the bike? Also the PCV tube was not connected...
At any rate, once I got that squared away I took it out again and HOLY S! Huge difference when the IAC tube isn't rubbing on the TB linkage arm, gas wheelies on demand down Market Street!

I see your running the high bar kit. It requires removal of the airbox to install it, it is likely when it was being reinstalled the tube wasn't connected 100% perfect and it shifted. Simple error with easy fix : )

Spent yesterday afternoon doing my first oil change (minimal spillage), installing a Jardine fender eliminator and exchanging my '09 taillight for a 2010 LED version...then ended up not riding it! Rode my S1 to Buell Night instead. Dunno why...
Hey Rat, how did you reroute your fuel vent line after removing your passenger brackets? I've got to put mine somewhere that won't be affected by the dripping fuel.
Thanks,
Jay

Hit 5000 miles on mine earlier this week, a list of small recall problems been dealt with, its a '08' R

But still the best bike with the most character, and Joe Public can't get enough of it : )

Zack, if you want to freak out about mileage, set your readout to show "Instantaneous Mileage," or whatever it's called that shows real-time mileage and then get on the throttle real hard through a few gears and watch it go down into the low teens, like 13-14 mpg! Of course, that's wide open at full rpm's!!!!!

For the vent line...I put the forward screw from the left peg mount bracket back into the tail section, leaving about 1/8" (enough for a zip tie) of threads showing. I routed and zip tied the vent hose to that screw and used a plumb bob (weight on a string) to determine how short I could cut it, and have the drips miss the swingarm.

It finally warmed up enough that I installed my Buell CF swingarm foot protectors (they're adhesive, need warm metal to stick to)...and now I think I may have to add a hair to the hose length.

For the mileage...it will get better, but one thing I've learned - more HP = less MPG. We've got damned near *automotive* econobox HP levels in these things...so in my book, "good automotive" MPG numbers are pretty acceptable to me. If I could just learn to keep my right hand out of it....but what's the fun in that? LOL

Rode my CR for the first time this year last night. It's got a whopping 140 miles on it now. Still haven't made up my mind on the clubmans yet, but I like it.

I'm liking the high bars on the CR. Still having issues finding neutral at a light when the bike is cold. Problem goes away when warmed up.

For neutral, blip the throttle. It drops right in if you lift out of first at the tail end of the blip.

Did an inadvertant wheelie pulling onto the access road last week. In the middle of a 90 degree turn. It was exciting. (Yikes)

I put 115 miles on my CR yesterday. In the 50's here. Just broke the first service mileage (624 miles) Had her up to 114mph and it didn't even feel like I was going that fast. As we came to a crest of a hill to get ready to turn left, saw a trooper with his lights on going the opposite direction. (glad I was going slow at that point).

I think I'm gonna love this bike : )

Ratbuell, thanks for the advice on getting
her into neutral - will definitely give it a shot. Also went for a ride yesterday. Did just under 100 miles (about 50% was twisties). Dam she handles great!!

Well, put some REAL miles on it last night. Rode to a job interview/audition last night, in DC. 'bout an hour each way, the ride home was from 11:30-12:30(midnight). Heavy backpack (I miss those Uly bags, need to get that one back!), heated gear, heated grips...and it was surprisingly civil as far as long-time positioning. Superslab doesn't give much time/occasion for moving around the seat, but with the seat and the Uly pegs, my lanky frame was pretty comfortable on 'er.

Ran like a champ. My new GPS mount needs a couple of tweaks (I'll post some pics soon), but even pre-charging-system-update I was showing no lower than 13.8v, with high beams, heated grips (Buell), heated jacket and heated gloves going at the same time. Turned off the clothes about a mile from home and when I pulled into the driveway I was at 14.2v.

Now, to put Journey racks on there somehow.... ; )

I actually plan on throwing my old Journey racks on my R when I do the tail swap. The one issue I will have is fabricating some way to connect the front part that normally goes into the footpeg mounts.

115 mile ride on mine yesterday, now up to 1230. was sunny and fairly warm. took a while to get into it, but awesome handling, and it goes exactly where i want it. no little wobbles like my Scg has, but then they are 2 very different bikes

I suggest you change the oil pronto, I changed it and the filter at 200 miles and was surprised how much muck came out ( even allowing for the break in paste that the engine must have been assembled with.

Buellerthanyou - I extended the fuel vent line to the rear licence plate arranged it so that the drips hit neither the tyre or the belt

Yeah, my oil is dark on the stick but I don't see anything floating around in there that's big enough for its own part number....

Dealer says the 30th before they can get me in. Might just tackle it myself, have to (get a job first, then) read the manual a bit to make sure I won't miss anything. I'm not afraid to do my own work...but I usually try to let the dealer do the first one at least to make sure all is well. Worst case I keep the appointment to get the charging system update done.

At least my Ulysses is back, I don't have to (gasp!) *drive* everywhere! 14mpg in that Wrangler is KILLING me!!

I also found a way to mount the (1125/XB-R) Buell tail bag, without the saddlebags. Took the passenger seat cowl off so it doesn't get scratched, so now I have room for at least a little stuff without having to put it on my back : )

Not at Frederick anymore?

Good luck at finding work fast.
My fingers are crossed for ya.
