So i bought an 08 with 22 miles on it. It ran when I got it. Now the fuel light is on and will not start. I have read some other threads about the ecms being bad or the cluster or the fuel pump. The problem is, it seems that everyone elses bike still runs. Any help? question number two is. I have put on different exhaust. Will this effect the warrenty? should I put the stock pipe back on when I bring it to the dealer | ||

Check your battery voltage on the ODIS. It should read at least 12V. you can also look at the codes its throwing. if the bike has a ton of codes like TPS Err, Baro Err, Ecm ERR, it could be just low batt voltage causing the problem. mine will throw like 9 different codes if the batt gets low and usually wont start until I recharge it. | ||

i would throw the stock exhaust back on just in case. so they dont try and get stupid and say it voided the warrenty | ||

Yep just took mine in and he looked at my slip on and got that look like hmmm, and asked me how long its been on. They better not give me any crap, only think I would even let them give crap about the pipe would be a burnt/warped valve or stuck piston. Other than that the pipe has nothing to do with anything. But with our bikes having a closed loop ecm, slip on shouldnt make a difference. I think mine is the fuel pump, it had a hard time starting the last few days then would just cut out and die after about a mile, restart and go a mile, die. But didnt want to start either, but would after some cranking. | ||

This may be a dumb question....but is there gas in it? Try stranding the bike straight up for 30 seconds and THEN try starting it while still straight. | ||

Almost full of gas. The gas is most likely old, but it did run fine 2 months ago when I bought it. I can crank and crank and it does not even misfire (Message edited by nizzle99 on March 10, 2010) | ||

Have you tried this If fouled plugs are suspected, a spark plug clean can be initiated manually. Repeat the following sequence three times: 1. Roll and hold the throttle wide open 2. Turn the ignition to ON 3. Wait three seconds 4. Release the throttle grip 5. Turn the ignition to OFF | ||

It will fire the spark plugs in an attmept to make sure they aren't fouled and not sparking correctly. | ||

Do a diagnostic check on it via the speedo cluster, you will have a fuel error code. My 09 CR had the same problem, fuel pressure sensor & fuel pump rooted | ||

It did make one hell of a bang. but got it running. Bikejunky you are man. one took off right away and the othet took a few minutes. | ||

This engine floods VERY easily. Do NOT touch the throttle when starting- Turn the key on and wait for the IC to initialize. Once you see all the "idiot lights" come on and go off, push the yellow button. If it doesn't start after 5 or 6 turns, stop, wait a couple of seconds and try again. This has worked for me every time for 2 years even well below freezing. Zack | ||
