You cleaned up the tail section very nicely. And, the power outlet is very cleanly installed. However, aren't red lights on the front of vehicles ill advised and illegal? | ||

here in Alberta the LEO's would be all over you for any thing but clear or amber on the front of the bike.... funny how tons of pickup trucks around here i see with blue bulbs in the parking lamps.... stupid fix it tickets | ||

I can't imagine why you would have any load issues with converting to LED from incandescent seeing as LED draw a fraction of the power that an incandescent bulb does. depending on the set up you may have to wire a resistor into them so the signals don't fast blink the LED rear turn signals I have have a resistor built into them | ||

Pwillikers: Technically, yes, it's illegal. Before I went out on the road I tested them with the dipped/low beam on (remember it's a 55W HID in 6000K color) and you can't see the red at all. The only way to see the red is if you stick your head under the front point of the flyscreen and look up at it. If you're looking at it from a standard height (standing up or sitting in a cage) you cant see red at all. It's really only visible with the forks locked and in parking light mode which is all I intended to use it for anyway ... just to look cool while it's parked. Lastonetherebuys: It seems as though so many vehicles are throwing in HID kits that the local and state LEOs have given up on them. For those of you wanting to throw an HID kit in your CR though, the beam pattern is very respectable and the flyscreen blocks most vertical glare. I was very happy about that. Jredxa: Nope, no heat like Louisiana_xrider said — just twist off with some force. It's held on by double-sided adhesive foam so it comes off cleanly with just a little wipe-down needed afterwards to remove the dirt that surrounded it. Hogzilla: Aren't your stock turn signals LEDs? Unless you have the bulb rear signals on your 2010. I didn't change anything with the turn signals, just the taillamp. I don't think the relay will care if you change your 2010 rear signals to the pre-2010 LED units since it controls the front LED signals as well ... I don't think it's a load-dependant circuit (or whatever you wanna' call it). (Message edited by jeepinbueller on March 10, 2010) | ||

I cant remember if it was only 2010 but they did switch from LED turn signals and they switched to a LED tail lamp | ||

JeepinBueller...I did the same thing with the red led in the parking light. And like you said, it cannot be seen unless you only have the parking lights on. I think it is a cool mod for bike night and such. Everything else looks great too. | ||

Yeah, I believe it was only for 2010. My buddy has an '08R, and obviously my '09CR. So it's: 2008 Bulb taillamp & LED indicators 2009 Bulb taillamp & LED indicators 2010 LED taillamp & bulb indicators I wonder what made Erik switch to bulb indicators in 2010? Seems like a downgrade. LEDs all around now for me and I couldn't be happier .. well, maybe with an XBLights taillamp but I just can't shell out $200+ on a taillamp! They are friggin' sweet though. | ||

for the guys that have the bulb signals check out watesn design for led signal lights they are super bright and have the resistor built into them so all you have to do is mount them and conect the 2 wires and you are set | ||

How did you wire in the Powerlet? Is that SAE plug for a battery tender? Did you convert the Garmin plug to Powerlet? ac | ||

Hey Avc8130, The Powerlet is a simple two wire hook up exactly like a cigarette lighter. Took 12 ga power wire from the battery, through a 15A inline fuse, to under the flyscreen by following the factory wiring harness. The socket is grounded at the factory location behind the headlamp assembly using 12 ga wire as well. They sell an adapter cable with a Powerlet socket end and an SAE end for the battery tender (that's the one pictured). I wasn't sure how much of a run of wire I'd need for my Garmin (nuvi 250W), so I waited for my RAM-mount to get here to measure. Even at it's full extended, highest position, I'll only need about 12-14" of wire to go from socket to GPS. They make a Powerlet cable that goes from the receptacle to a mini USB, which in turn plugs into the Garmin GPS cable (apparently the Garmin GPS needs a special circuit within the cable so it charges correctly). Everything I used was bought from PowerletProducts.com: - Low-Profile Powerlet Socket (PSO-007) - Powerlet Basic Plug To SAE 6" Cable (Garage Duty) (PAC-008-06) - PL/Mini USB (PPC-015-SC - MiniUSB Adapter for Garmin GPS (PPC-024) I had a custom cable made for the GPS with a PPL-004 right angle Powerlet plug, a 12" lead, and the ability to plug it into the Garmin GPS without harming it. Haha, oh gotcha. Got a little carried away ... oh well, guess the info's out there for people that want it. Yeah, I was going to use the accessory plug under the the flyscreen but after talking to someone on another board that brought the obvious to my attention (it's a switched circuit only working with the ignition on) I just hardwired it in. | ||
