I have the opportunity to trade my new 2009 1125CR (700 miles) for a brand new 2010 XB12Ss, at no cost to me! I sat on the XB and it felt much more comfortable than my CR. I haven't ridden an XB, so I don't know if I'd be satisfied with it after owning the CR. I'd like some opinions about the XB from people that have maybe had or have both. Thanks, Sam |

I had an '03 XB9R before I got my '09 1125CR ... there's absolutely no way I'd go back. I'd LOVE to own BOTH ... but not trade straight up. The 12s are better IMHO so it may be different (but not much). I've also heard that the XBs after '08 are hit and miss ECM-wise. |

The XB will (on average) cost you less to own in service costs and insurance, for sure. I really liked by XB12r on the street, but when I started getting into the track, I couldn't help but feel I was going to blow that old lump up. I traded and haven't looked back, either. |

What a position to be in! I've ridden my friend's XB12 a few times and think they're fabulous bikes. The performance is adequate and it handles really nicely. You will need to do an extended test ride to make your mind up, around town the XB felt (to me) more torquey and was actually quite impressive at moderate speed. Make sure you take a test ride on the types of road you'll be riding the bike on and have ridden the CR on. What is it about the XB that felt more comfortable? If it's just the bars then you really should try a CR with high bars on first (assuming you don't already have them) as then you'd have the CR performance with (roughly) the same comfort of the XB |

While my XB12R gets 50 mpg and is quick handling....it's VERY hard to beat the power of my CR. The CR is similar in handling, but a difference can be felt. I've worked on both bikes (mapping) for some real differences in power. Even picking up the XB milage a ton from stock. The CR still wins overall. One hint...the CR (or R) can be made MUCH better by modifying the seat to fit the male anatomy. Made a world of difference with a little seat foam triming and a new cover to fit. Keep your CR....and buy the XB... Mike |

I have an 1125R (2008) and a XB12Scg (2004). I'm over 6', so the XB is a bit small for me - after replacing the seat with a 'flatter' one, I could move back a bit and was more comfortable. They really are two different bikes. I like the XB much better in town and traffic, but the 1125 is faster, handles better and is scarier (scary = fun). I would be hard-pressed to give up either - which probably doesn't help you much: the difference is that the XB is more of the low grunt bar-hopping 'muscle car' that is great getting out of the hole, and the 1125 is more the 'supercar' with lots of top end. |

Been there (sorta), and I went the other way than most on here would. I had an 09 R and sold it to keep my 12S. I could have kept both, but decided to sell one for a dedicated track bike (which didn't happen anyway due to something else in my garage - but I digress). Long story short, the R was the most fantastic bike I've ever ridden. I loved it. But the XB just 'spoke' to me. Make sense? Probably not. Ride both and pick your poison. The best analogy commonly made, and alluded to here, is muscle car to sports car....with respect to the engine only, because both bikes handle great. But engine-wise, you get the drift. Two different animals... |

I was lucky enough to keep hold of my Firebolt whislt I took delivery of my 09 1125R, the overlap lasted for about 10 months - the XB is a great low reving engine but for shear speed the 1125R or CR has the legs over the XB - keep the 1125 in my opinion |

XB? What's an XB? Seriously, I had an XB and it collected huge amounts of dust before I sold it. IMO you would be making a huge mistake. Keep the CR. |

I too have both the CR and a XB9R. Since I purchased the CR, I have to make myself ride the XB. I have put about 2100 miles on the CR compared to about 50 on the XB. I just cant bring myself to sell the XB though. Its nice having both. |

I have an 07 xb9r and an 09 1125r. These are two very different bikes, so I think the answer to your question is going to be a matter of - What do you intend to use the bike for? and what do you expect from it? The 1125 is faster and has a more sophisticated and refined EFI system, but it is also more complicated. The xb is simple, reliable, and gets excellent gas mileage. It also takes forever to warm up, and runs like a pig when cold. I think the xb may be a better commuter, but the 1125 is the superior motorcycle.I love both of these bikes, and would hate to have to get rid of one for the other. Btw... I use the xb for commuting, and the 1125 for a weekend play toy. |

I love my new 1125CR, however I just can't seem to part with my XB9S. My Lightning has been just too good to me. My new CR is incredible, different beast for sure. All the things I love about my XB in a beefier updated package. Tough decision for sure, one I'm not ready to make. I couldn't imagine watching someone ride away with my XB. I'd be chasing them down the street pleading with them to take their money back. Good luck with your decision. If pressed I might lean towards the CR, and grab an XB if and when feasible. |

Actually the EFI on both the 08+XB and 1125's is the pretty much the same. The 08+ XB's are much nicer than previous years. The 2010's have dual O2 sensors like the 1125. |

just to repeat what i said in the xb section i have an 2007 XBscg and a 2010 CR. im sat a lot lower on the XB and it feels more comfortable, as the seat is a better shape then the CR's although i have cut the CR seat down a bit, and intend to reshape it some more yet. however im not uncomfortable on the CR, its just a different riding position. i have ridden 600 miles in one day on my XB, not sure if i could do the same on the CR riding wise the engine my XB feels more 'relaxed' as its turning a lower revs, but its still quick. depends what kind of riding you do, most of mine is tight twisty corners where the XB is just as quick as the CR. i bought the CR because i wanted one. different bikes, but thats good |

I have both also. A 2007 Scg and the 2009 CR. There's no way I'd sell my Scg, it's....me. I love that bike. Unfortunately, I don't have enough miles on the CR to really have a feel for it yet. I've taken my Scg on the track several times, but now having the CR, it will become my track bike. Hopefully I'll have many miles on the CR to truly be able to compare them. |

If the powerplant is anything like the one in my Uly I'd be a sad panda after experiencing the 1125. It's just a bit limp wristed in comparison. I have an X-1 for when I want that Harley low end and sound. I actually like it much more than the XB powerplant (at least the one in my Uly). I went the other way, I traded the Uly for the 1125. |

As noted, most of it depends how you ride. Based on my limited experience so far, the XB is a nicer motor if you spend most of your time at a comparatively relaxed pace and lower rpms. The XB is happier and has smoother power below 5000. The CR is a lot faster, but the XB is still fast enough to be fun. That said, I'd keep the CR. There's (relatively) lots of XB's out there and you can find used ones at pretty good prices. |

I had a xb12r and I got a 1125CR. I kept the 12r because I thought I would use both because I loved the xb12r soo much , but after a few months the xb never left the garage because the 1125 is such a beast. Rick |

I had XB9 for six years, CR w/high bar for a year, CR faster, XB more personality. I have an 08R and used to have 98S1W. I gotta say, the R is Freaking unbelievable, but you are correct, the XBs and tubers both had way more personality (read Snarling vicious Exhaust and Front Wheels Hopping off the ground)

I want to thank everyone that offered an opinion, I really appreciate it! My Son bought me the 1125CR for Christmas, when he'd heard me talking about them with my wife! He bought it and then parked it in front of our business and just handed me the keys!!!!!! I'm not a knee dragger (sorry) as I'm not built for that at 6ft-5in and 350lbs of corn fed table muscle but I do enjoy playing with the throttle now and then on our beautiful, curvy, country roads here in SW Missouri. I've been thinking that the new CR may get me in trouble with the way the power comes on in the lower gears! I ride a 2010 Triumph Scrambler, a 2009 Yamaha T-max (120mph scooter) and my baby, a 2005 HD Sportster 883R, all of which are a lot more sedate! (Like me) I feel that the XB12Ss may suit me better but I know I'd miss the CR's power! This CR is my 65th Streetbike in 46 years of legal street riding and I've had my share of 140-160mph crotch rockets but at almost 63 years old, the CR's Rotax engine feels a little too "Nervous" for me! I'll probably just hold off for a while and maybe get a 2008 or 09 XB12Ss, as they are super cheap right now, new or used. Thanks again! Sam |

Well, since the CR was a gift from your son, I think you have to keep it for no reason other than that (nice son, BTW). |

True.. The gift would be hard for me to part with even if it was to nervous for me. Does the CR have high handle bars? If not you might like it a lot better with them. Gives it a more dossal feel. Of course with 65+ bikes I'm preaching to the choir. |

Get both. I have an 1125r and an xb12. Like em both. I am short so scg a little easier to manage in town, but 1125 more comfortable for the long run. XB cheaper to operate, insure. Both have their strong points, just depends on what you want and how you ride. |

on the 1125 board they're going to say keep the 1125. On the XBoard they're going to say get the XB. What you need to do is go ride the XB and go from there. Only you know what is the best bike for you. -chris |
