Time to wake the neighbors Jack. I'm starting to like that look a little more now. I may have to modify mine and tilt it up also. Thanks again for the orders guys, much appreciated. It's definitely keeping me busy. |

You will be glad you got this froggy, way better than my FMF and HR1, no choking or surging like the others. |

The one pictured above (RT Type 1) is $549 + $35 shipping, polishing is an extra $175. They take 5-6 hours to build, polishing takes 3-4 hours. The materials cost is a little over $300, so yes, you're paying for my labor, but I do take pride in the work I do and I try to make it show on every one I make. This isn't a cookie cutter operation, I build it how each person wants it done. I normally charge $70/hr for most repair work. I lose $ for the time, but for this, I don't mind. I get good/valuable info from here, so I try to return the favor on something I actually enjoy doing. I could also throw in miscellaneous shop supplies, such as argon gas, filler rod, and electric costs, so in all reality, I don't make a lot on each one. Is it worth it? Yep. Every phone call I've gotten from each customer has been positive, you can hear how happy they are from just they sound. Kids in a candy shop. I try to get them done in a timely fashion, but I do work alone, this is a one man business. Right now, I'm running about 2 weeks lead time. I have a few to build, plus I'm still trying to get another type done to test. |

That looks really nice! The sub-$400 exhausts notwithstanding, I can't think of anything else I'd buy in the under $800 (even under $1000) price range. |

About the costs, all the sub $400 exhausts are mass produced and often times are the same cans from another bike just with a different inlet pipe. That allows the companies to make them cheap. All of D's pipes are hand made and built to order. His price is very fair. The Drummer is also a low production hand made pipe, and costs a little more. |

My wife asked me if liked this one finally, got over 1600 in exhaust including this one. This one does the trick, just like froggy said no more massed produced I got the same pipe man comments here, when i park her it will be unique. |

I love the exhaust, I think it looks great, my question is regarding the packing, what do you do when it needs repacked? Will it need repacked? |

I specifically asked my supplier about it, the sport packing I use in these is normally good for 30-40k miles. I did start one up without any packing and it's not much louder than it is with packing. It gets a ring to it at a couple of rpm ranges, but I think it was just loose parts vibrating against each other since it wasn't even welded shut, just clamped. If I remember to do it, I'll put one together without packing and start it up on video to show the differences. |

Hey D, Did you work on shortening the primary tubes yet, for less of an angle, or are you just going to leave it, as it is? |

I will be doing a 1" shorter version on the next pipe to tuck it a little closer to the engine, but it won't be until next weekend. I've also found some alternative tubing, but it's a lot more per piece for the primaries. Just those short little tubes are $100 for the first 2 pieces, so they cost me twice as much for the thinner tubing. Thinner being .020" difference, but it might end up decreasing my fabrication time by 1/2 hour, so it should be worth it in the long run, plus it will give a double step in the headers for diameter, although it won't be much. |

It would be interesting to see the effect of placing the collector closer to the muffler, like the EBR race pipe. |

To the OP - Thanks for the pix. I recently polished my Drummer and was waffling on polishing the mid-pipe too. Looks good so, next snowstorm, the mid-pipe gets to be shiny too. Your stuff is looking good Dean, thanks a bunch for adding to our options. Zack |

The da2x dual exit is my choice. I have heard the D&D, Barker, FMF, HMF, Jardine, TorqueHammer, Remus, FS, and more euro models on the internet at 2 or more times. At this time the da2x seems to be the Best of the Breed. waiting for ECM story to unfold now. (Message edited by dannybuell on March 05, 2010) |

As of right now, there is no ECM story to be told. It runs the same as stock, so at this point it works as I intended. I do plan on getting something for more power, but realistically, I don't really need it. As I ride this more and more, the comments I get are that it is definitely quieter than the Jardine I had before and sounds much better. Close up, yes it sounds loud, but running on the highway it's just at the right level. You hear it, but it's not over-powering. It's just so hard to describe it. You'd have to see and hear it in person to get where it's really at. Initially I was worried about it being too loud, but it's not. I ran with a GT500 Shelby Mustang the other night, I could clearly hear his exhaust over mine up until I really whacked the throttle. The guy in the car wimped out at 120 right after I shifted to 4th and quit messing with him. I guess me blipping the throttle as I kept pace with him kinda threw him off some. Maybe he just gave up, I don't know. |
