Placed order, dealer surdyke.com noted it was direct from the vendor, back ordered for 3 weeks. It turns out to not be true, items shipped within 6 days of the order being placed. I only hopes it will keep my fan from running so much. Fan runs a lot in 40 degree weather, can't imagine what summer will bring. |

got it. installed it. think it looks goofy so im gonna trim it down to match the left side and blend in a little better until i can decide on a different set up. but im really happy it showed up before i left for bike week. +1 on the dealer...too bad it doesnt come with the lousy three screws |

Since it was mentioned that the one from American Sport Bike comes with screws, I bought mine there. Should be here this week and maybe two weeks before I start doing work on my cycle to get it ready (still too damn cold). Bought a lot of things from them while I was ordering. |

I really cant imagine the fan running that much in 40 degree weather. Are you really running it hard or city driving? |

It doesn't seem to matter city or back roads, I would pull into a friends home after running the back roads and the fan would run for a minute every time, 40 degree, 50 degree weather, does not seem to matter. When I rode home about 8 miles after the right hand side scoop was added, the fan didn't even come on in 43 degree weather. Ridden several more times and the fan has yet to come on with the scoop added. (Message edited by hodakaharold on March 05, 2010) |

any one here run the shorter one that comes stock on the 2010 models on older bikes? I think the big one is ugly and I do not have the money to throw at one of the ones that look really good, and I think the short ones do not look that bad. So does any one know if it works well or not? |

It works, and is only $15 and requires no extra hardware. Might as well just pick it up and try it out anyway |

I just installed the complete comfort kit on my 2009 XT. Rode it for a while without the flash, the fan was on just as much as before. After a week I had it reflashed. No regrets. |

I like the look of the Buell scoop, works well and I didn't mind spending $1.29 for 3 stainless screws.

As if our bikes are not odd enough looking already... Might as well make it look more strange with the big scoop. |

I have the big one on right now, and I don't think it looks akward at all. I also have the small (2010 XBR) scoop, but have not tried either yet, as winter is ending, and the bike is all taken apart. |

Scoop arrived, it does indeed have both pieces and the screws, so I guess it could be called a kit. |

Why didn't somebody tell me that before I bought it? Actually, I think the big RSS makes it looks a little more symmetric and a little less strange... |

just got back from daytona, which is the first time ive ridden since adding the RSS. although the temperatures were not really high, we were doing some hard riding and i didnt hear the fan at all. except when idling in stop and go traffic. trimming down the scoop didnt seem to affect its function at all but it did improve its look |

Just put mine on. I agree with the comments made earlier about it not looking very "finished" from the top, but I guess I'm not too worried about that. Overall, I think the bike looks better with it than original. I got black allen screws for the 10-32's, also replaced the stock 1/4-20 with a black cap screw to make it look a little cleaner..

So how many engines have blown up or seized by not having a larger RSS? I think I am just going to run the piss out of my 9, and if and when it ever blows, I am going to put a short stroke 1254 kit in it and run it till it blows again! I have heard that the EBR ecm changes the way the fan cycles, even with the puny stock RSS |

I've never heard of anyone blowing one up because the scoop was not on. I got one for my 05 just to keep it a little cooler in the summer. |

Zero. The XB has been around for nearly 10 years, if it was an issue it would of appeared by now. The scoop and fan cool the rear cylinder. If that fails and it begins to overheat, the bike goes into skipspark mode to reduce operating temperatures. You would have to seriously try to ruin the motor. |

Thanks Froggy! With the engine overheat protection you described, if some one wanted a different RSS for whatever reason, they could do so with out hurting the engine. I guess I am of the school that EB and company put the proper RSS on because they did the research and they could. |

I just want mine to look more strange! Hey, once you get used to an 1125, an XB almost looks conventional. The big RSS is sort of like a pod wannabe... |

Got my scoop on today, from the top it certainly does look unfinished. Too bad the inner piece doesn't wrap around at the lip like the left side scoop does. |

I've gone for a couple of brief rides on my bike since putting the new RSS on. Both time, the fan doesn't come on even after I turn off the bike ('09 12Ss). It's been a little on the cool side during these rides - but is this surprising? |

Anyone know if i can fit either right side scoop on my bike with my Micron exhaust? I know it would be tight but i'm no stranger to modding something a bit to fit. |

Installed large, two piece, right side scoop from American Sportbike on my 2007 XB12R. Outside temps were about 60 deg. Right leg was definitly cooler and fan did not come on until shutdown. Easy installation and does not look too much different from left side. |
