For just about the exact same price (400$) what pipe would you go with? The fmf I like the looks of better but with a belly pan added to my sides I think the barker could kinda look better??? But there isn't much known about this pipe. And for a color its 50 bucks more. And the 17 hp power gain?? Just seams too good to be true. So by the end of the day let's see what everyone thinks. Because I wanna buy one of the two. Thanks chris |

I chose the FMF as I think it looks a lot better. After seeing the Barker, I thought it looked kinda like a Jardine....(with a weird headpipe) If 17 HP seems to good to be true....it is. I don't believe the 17 HP gains the Barker is claiming was made on back to back dyno runs, plus the +17 HP run also includes a K&N air filter swap in the mix. I think most slip-on pipes for this bike are getting around 8-9 HP increase with some fueling changes. I probably opened a can of worms with this post.... Prowler...somebody has to open the can worms, so it might as well be you. Just don't tip it over. The results could almost be as bad as a barrel of monkeys finding a semi-truck full of footballs. It has been discussed ad nauseum on here that Dyno results are purely subjective. My take on dyno results is they are nothing but a high tech d*ck measuring contest. 17 seems high, but we don't the exact conditions in which it was attained. I would agree that the 8-9 HP increase is more along the norm. Now as to which pipe to buy...again, it is a purely subjective decision. Make up YOUR mind with regards to how you want YOUR bike to look. Personally I chose the FMF slippy because it fits better under the bike and weigh a metric butt ton less...yes I know it sticks out of the side, but that cured my dirty tire.

My personal choice would be the Barker Exhaust over the FMF, but again, only my personal choice. I have no hands on experience with the two, so I can only offer an opinion from looks and posted information, not much help, I know. |

The FMF/HMF/Jardine look like generic sportbike mufflers that were adapted to the 1125R. The Barker stays completely under the bike and has a properly-directed exit. Barker vs. any other $400 exhaust is a no-brainer for sure. There are certainly "nicer" exhausts out there if you want to spend more money, but if you're on a budget, there is no other choice IMO. I am also trying to decide between these two options but I just want to add that part of being a buellist is that unique buell american style and the distinct lower center of gravity. I realize that removing the stock exhaust takes away some of that low weight and the aftermarkets are all very light but the barker seems to conform more to the concept as well as maintain more of the buellcentric style. And yes, I did make up two new words. |
