Wont it just be called the Nextel cup? There is a question about the non points race "the winston" however because RJR has rights to that. I was reading that they werent sure what it would be named, or if they could even hold it next year. edited by dynarider on June 19, 2003 |

The S2 is a machine of unique beauty and grace in motion. My 96 runs just fine with plenty of that low end grunt that makes for easy cruising or just plain gittin'it down the road. ALL the Buells I've owned have been relatively reliable aside from a bad speedo sensor on the 99M2 and heck, I did more damage to the bike than expected and it was still reliable. The S2 is just icing. |

yo Jim in SB, the VFR is going away, but not very far it seems in the meantime i still have access to the ignition key and a remote opener for the garage door it's parked behind, and i logged 1320 +/- rowdy miles on it this past weekend (California Highways 1 & 101, mmmmmmmmmm...), laughing all the way (except when i wasn't laughing due to traffic, ambient heat, and fatigue). my S2? long story, but engine meltdown, bankruptcy, and persistent personal reality have a lot to do with why it's still down. all the pieces are there, tho, and it's just a matter of time. i bought the BLURR brandy new, i've been around the planet 3 times on it, and when i leave this world i'm taking it with me, running or not. Just when I was wondering if anyone was riding Buells anymore I have seen 6 different ones in the past week. Most of them were XB9s, 2 Rs in MN, 1 S headed south on the interstate towards Cedar Rapids and an R in my town (I wonder who that was?). And a couple of M2s in Minneapolis. Of course this doesn't count mine and the ones at our club meeting Tue. I think that was more than any one brand other than Harley & BMW. Kind of restores my faith in mankind. |

Ferris, are those rock zits anything like the ones you put on my S2? |

>>>i bought the BLURR brandy new, i've been around the planet 3 times on it, and when i leave this world i'm taking it with me, running or not. Ditto mine. It and the Cushman stay no matter what. As I recall, the last riding lesson I gave you was punctuated with me putting "rock zits" all over a previously pretty nice M-2 and taking the sleeve off an Aerostich Roadcrafter....and, ell a rather impressive cliff on Angeles Crest. Hey....."slip happens" Keep the faith! |

Hey Court: Someone by the name of Canfield (at the side door) has a package waiting. Let me know if it doesn't show up. Try out the PPS files and tell me what you think. Sorry the little MPGs don't work all the time (I'll explain later). Neil S. |

Thanks Jeff. I wasn't the originator of the BadWeB logo idea though. I think that was Spike. BadWeB stuff in support of the site is in work.

I'm working on a banner too... Just playing with ideas, learning the basics of computer graphics with MS Image Composer. If anyone wants to submit ideas for banners, please do so on the logo discussion page to which Don provided a link above. I'll rip off the ideas I like. Credit really does go to Spike for the BadWeB logo. Or did he rip it off from someone else? |

This was posted over on MotorcycleDaily.com "New Buell Coming? By Dirck Edge Rumors of a new Buell have surfaced. A Buell with a liquid-cooled engine . . . perhaps, based on the Harley-Davidson V-Rod. Housed in the modern, XB9 chassis, it could be a killer combination -- the engine Buell has long needed" That would indeed be a major suprise if it happens. I dont think anyone is expecting anything like that.

So I finally get the S1 back on the road. Everything seems fine except at first it won't run without lots of choke, then later it runs fine with no choke but won't idle. Anyway I'm making all kinds of racket outside my house trying to get it to idle. One of the times it dies I hear my neighbor yelling at his wife (his favorite past-time) about my bike and how he's gonna call the cops (hey it's midnight on a Friday, cut me some slack! ). Fine, I head up the street coughing and bucking. Make a right at the next street and pass the local unmarked unit on patrol. He ignores me (I'm doing 10MPH on a loud coughing bike, what do you need to do to get pulled over around here?) I ride up and down the main street until she's running good w/o choke, but she still won't idle. I head home but quickly pick up a squad car, 2 cops on board. Then the bike dies rounding a corner and I have to stop to get her going. Squad car pulls up next to me.... "Nice bike, what is it" "Buell, 98 White Lightning" and mumble something about carb trouble. "Cool, who makes it?" hmm, what's the chances they shoot me? "Uhm. Buell." We conversed about why Buell wasn't Harley for a bit and why it wasn't a Harley sportbike (they weren't convinced) then they left with another "Nice ride" and the required "be careful" Guess my neighbor didn't call. |

Josh, you wouldn't happen to be running that ultra-quiet Stainless Specialties setup on the S1 still, would you? Sounds like the toll booth guy in Ohio that asked me "Nice bike, who makes it?" "Um, Buell" "Is it German or something?" so I point to the "American Motorcycles" on the tank and say, no, American. So a conversation ensues on where in America, etc. all yelled over the sound of the S2 (much quieter than your S1, I'll admit, but I'm in a toll booth so it echos) while traffic backs up behind me. I can't imagine why your neighbor got p.o.-ed it's not like you live in a quiet cul-de-sac or anything |
