FWIW I can't think of the site right now, but if a FSM is still needed there are down-loadable versions on line ....IIRC it costs around 10 bucks and you get to download it 5 times before it expires...........
So its $10 for pirated manuals you can get elsewhere for free? Good way to make money
I didn't think they were pirated at the time. I thought they had some sort of arrangement or were licensed to do so..........I thought by paying , I was getting a legit deal, and not downloading a definitely pirated free version.
That's a huge bold scam if it's true ! They are taking on quite a risk then !
Even when trying to do the right thing , things can turn out wrong oh well.
>>>Did Harley ever sell the manual on CD-rom as a PDF?
Yes, they did. You can see one in the background of this photo. I have a couple cases somewhere. They were only made one year and there were 2 CD's. One was a Service Manual and (trying to remember) the other was an Owner's Manual.
Anyone have an owners manual on PDF for an 03 XB9R? Not sure if they ever had them available or not but worth asking while we are discussing manuals. Don't think I need one enough to order one since the service manual covers most things, but if there was a legit PDF version like for the newer machines I would like to grab it. Never saw it on the Buell site so it may not exist.
Oh and back to the pirate thing... I once made a fairly detailed set of instructions to modify a device, posted them on a forum so that other people could play along... Found them for sale on ebay about a month later being sold as a link to the information.
How's that for bold! SO glad the other users helped me to defend the ability for them to be free, a couple people even bought them and asked questions on that forum.
My .02. Whatever the bike, buy the service manual. Even if you've 10 thumbs and never intend to lift a wrench, understanding and knowledge is key. They will take you far.
im pretty sure i read that and dont remember anything about calling you a terrorist. although for some reason its gone. would have loved to reread that...
According to Glitch, that link is a terrorist. If by me saying that BadWeB will not be a party to illegal activity, is to you saying a link is terrorist, then it is you my friend that has a problem, not myself. I stand by what I did, given similar circumstances, I'd do the same thing.
>>>>Posting the same thing from your own makes it perfectly acceptable right?
Thank you for asking . . . . I'm kind of surprised you couldn't figure out the answer for yourself but let me help.
The answer is "kind of yes".
Over the last 24 years I've gone to great lengths to help Buell owners.
Last year I spent about $19,000 of my own money helping folks, sent 4 of them new bikes and have been able to do some amazing things.
Ask . . as an example. . . the Buell owner from Italy who was broken down in Spain on vacation while all the dealers were closed and how his friend e-mailed me in the middle of the night in NYC and I had a dealer from Barcelona there within an hour . . .that was cool. I did that about $300 times last year.
There is . . . and as you gain knowledge you'll understand this . . a great difference between me copying a couple pages to help a guy who has his rear tire off and you (or someone) buying a copyrighted manual, scanning it and selling it for profit.
I am helping.
Those people are stealing.
I've spent thousands of my own $$$ and have EVERY MANUALS (including all the updates, supplements, mods and PDI manuals for every Buell since the 1987 RR-1000.
If I help someone . . hey, that's cool.
If I started making .pdf and selling them . . . even I a Professor at Columbia University . . know that's not only illegal but it's dishonest.
Does that clear it up?
I got the impression that your question, like most here have become, was smart ass. But it was, intended or not . . . .a pretty damn good question.
